Hi,hi,over herewaving bigsmile ,ever walked into a restaurant, shop, any business establishment ECT,and the person coming to assist you has and unpleasant look on their face?,Or,how about, you just coming in to work, your boss or supervisor is the first one you make contact with, they had a bad night ECT,you know this cause it's written all over their face, not good is it?!Flip side now,the shop clerk waitress ECT,greets you with a warm welcome, your boss or supervisor leave that problem at home ECT,it does affect your mood in two totally different ways right? It's always easy for people to make my day,but always use to be easy to SPOIL my day,I haven't mastered it yet but,I've learned to be more in control of my moods mainly through a positive attitude, and setting the tone myself, example,I'll start my day off by saying,I'm going to have a wonderful day and NO ones going to fck it up!!! But enough about me,how much does other people's mode affects YOU,consciously and/or subconsciously?Holla back!!drinker

when i walk out my door, my goal no matter where i walk or go, is to convert any frown i sea into a more positive, using my self as living paintbrush of animation and words to create that positive wake.

to spread more happy in the world, one must convert all unhappy it meets to more happy.

it's actually quite fun.

sometimes entire groups of people will join in, then it gets really cool and interesting.

peace&smiles

Lol...I was just talking about that earlier...I am basically happy with life and 90% of the time I wake up in good spirits...but lately I've been finding it so difficult to get to work on time..I love what I do for work and I'm very people friendly,..but my co worker is such a bummer...she's 75 and refuses to retire...she's in a bad mood every day, hates dealing with customers, she hates working and gets mad at me cause I am a better seamstress...I've tried everything to deal with her but her bad mood is not fixable...major bummer...it's sad cause I don't wish bad on anyone but somedays...geez...:ohwell ...I guess I will continue to deal with it but its sad how some people have to be...

I am sensitive, if i sense negativity just by looking at their faces or hearing the way they speak, I avoid them. Dont want to ruin my day either especially if I have nothing to do with it. I'll say a chant to ward off evil...lol

we are all human. I try not to take things to heart. but sometimes I just can't help it.
when I worked as a caregiver, we were told not to get attached. that doesn't work for me because it's not my nature. I cried often for the suffering of my people under my care.
I still work for the public. I do my best that their encounter with me will be positive.

Transference and counter transference... Hmmm... Sometimes it's hard to balance being sympathetic/empathic to other people's moods and problems and at the same time having to maintain objectivity professionally on the job or on personal life expectations, and make unbiased and impartial decisions. Defense mechanisms tend to jump in and get misinterpreted. I'm still working on improving and getting things in balance... Yes, it is hard to master taking the reigns, but that only means there is room for improvement.

I'm very sensitive as well, I can handle it better, shield myself and have boundaries. But yeah, if 9 out of 10 ppl you meet are in a bad mood, it's difficult to not get affected by it. Also depends if it's a colleague that is around you for hours on end it'll be more difficult to keep that out of your system than the grumpy waitress you saw for maybe 2 mins.

I think ppl who say it doesn't affect them, are either totally unaware of the effects of such things, or they are the chronic grumpy f@rts or a-holes that ruin other ppl's days

Oh, did you know ECT means ElectroConvulsive Therapy?
I take it you mean to say 'etcera' which is ETC

Hi  I once worked with a difficult woman and had to accept that was just the way it was. I dealt with it eventually by leaving because she started telling lies about me and making me out to be a problem which I wasn't because I was very young and shy at the time.

If it was now I would invite her out for a coffee and talk over with her how she feels about her job, listen sympathetically and share about my own experiences and then, with a bit more closeness forged between us, she might feel a bit better. Some people are difficult though and you have to work around them. You seem to be lucky in that you are people friendly and you are probably stronger than you realise. I on the other hand like working in a quiet environment on my own. I get this in the job I have now but whenever I think of that lady that used to bug me I can understand that she probably felt a bit lonely and vulnerable as she was getting older and probably wouldn't have much of a pension or anything meaningful to do if she retired. It's amazing how dumb people can be when they don't make up their minds to be happy though. Acceptance is a good way to be happy. If you accept that she will always be like that and keep knowing it has nothing to do with you that's the way to stay sane. Don't engage her in arguments but you probably know that if you are a people person. Wishing you the best, Geraldine.

For the most part I do just let her be...just smile and nod at her...one thing I have discovered is people who radiate hostile and negative energy don't know how to deal with kindness...so when anyone feels the need to be grumpy towards me or around me....I just gently smile and tell them to have a beautiful day...flowerforyou

I do get irritated if shop assistants are grumpy or not interested - I speak my mind though - tell them quite loudly that I will just take my dollars elsewhere. I do then leave.
When ppl have real troubles in their life to deal with that is a different matter. They need a bit of TLC.
Remembering that everyone acts the way they do because of many different things, not just to annoy you is the best advice.
I do love to just whisper "sorry, I didn't hear that" when anyone starts to get too loud. That's fun !!
