Decided to play nice with a Russian dating scam once. Got a few emails in with a throw away account before I got bored and just read up on how "boris" operates.

Hey what are some of the signs and how to spot a scammer? And catfish what in the world is that and how do you know?
Catfish is when the person you're talking to is pretending to be someone else. Yes, this has happened to me. Now, I know what it is called

Yeah, but the only way I found out was I was stood up. Was talking with someone on the phone etc... set up a date when they were supposedly in town visiting family... and no show. And then claimed they had food poisoning and thats why they didnt show.

I have been on this site for a little over 24 hrs and have received 2 hello pretty's and weirdly worded greetings. I am on a couple of other places . I even paid for a Membership once - NEVER again!.. I am eternal optimist, but that being said I am also a Southern Woman with a built in Bull Sit detector .. Thanks for the vent....

Join in and participate in the forums plenty of real people in here..... over time your fakometer will develop and then you will be able to pick them without opening their mail....good luck...

Hi everyone, Curious to know if anyone has a catfish story? If so, tell it here! Yes, started on another site when he was using a friends profile complete with pics and description because he had been banned...Followed me from site to site...bought my personal information.....stalked me for over two years....It was pure HELL and a valuable lesson learned the hard way...  .
i told you i quit doing that now... your just too darn sweet!

Catfish is when the person you're talking to is pretending to be someone else. I would have gone with "Jellyfished".. or "fluked".. maybe "bonefished". She fluked me.. sounds better wonder who thought up "Catfished"? |

I've been on here about a week and have encountered a couple of fakes and a flake. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet and the forums are a nice substitute for Facebook so sticking with it . Serious indicator of a fake , the profile is devoid of any info , in her early 30s and her about just says "Hi!". No thanks...
