Mostly because women like the attention they get at a wedding. It also gives them an excuse to dress up.

Dang it, you sussed it out!

Why do people get married?

These days (and those past) people get married for many reasons...They do it because they want to start a family, they do it because they are in love, they do it for religious reasons, for security, for the hell of it!!...Divorce is not on the rise because peeps get married for the wrong reasons, it's on the rise because it's socially acceptable, the stigma of divorce is long gone...I wonder, are you asking this question because, at the tender age of 30, you don't see the point of marriage?....Or is it just curiosity?....

Just curious what people thought.

to take from others the opportunity of marriage would be the same as taking from them the opportunity of free choice of passions.

whether it succeed or fail, it is only defined as such by those whom look at all of life as success or fail, and so their own brain judge them just as harshly, but the wise, sea all experiences of humans as each evolving by experience not just tried, but lived.

yes, it will become more universally known, as we evolve, a contract, to try to guarantee good results for self, when it comes to love, will always fail.

as the very premise is against the principle of true love...

or against the natural morphing and evolution of another, to try to gain possession and satisfaction but for one self.

I don't know anymore...sometimes I think so they can get divorced...seems like when people talk about getting married they always say if it don't work we can always get divorced...when I got married the first time it was to make his mom happy...very devote Mormons...she couldn't handle the thought of her first granddaughter being born a
" bastard " child...we got married a year after she was born...didn't see the point really...she was born already..hmmmm...what
