Topic: Extrovert, Introvert, or Ambiversion - where do you fit? | |

According to the Myers-Briggs assessment, I am 80% introverted. It doesn't mean I don't like being around people, but I do enjoy "my time". The only reason I have lawn and garden fertilizer is to feed and water the front flower beds and yard so I blend in with the neighbor hood and they don't become suspicious of what I'm doing in the garage (heh heh)

What do you do in the garage if i may ask

Nothing scary lol! but its not your normal "stuff". I mess around with magnets, electromagnetism, electronic circuits, and lots of other things. I'll stop there, I don't want to frighten the women off!

Ya, go ahead and say it, I know I'm not your typical beer chugging armchair quarterback LOL!! I watch sports and I go the gym and work out and all that stuff, but I have a curious mind and I enjoy doing the "different stuff". Here's a project I did about four years ago, check it out: http://iaec.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=992 |

if ya don't find both equal, what do ya have. Not understanding your question |

*sigh*
I don't find the Myers-Briggs assessment to be realistic. Even Carl Jung said in his own work that people are essentially partly introverted and extroverted. Unless this assessment is done as a professional (and it's still pretty sketchy then) it's just a Buzzfeed quiz. To answer your question - I'm a highly social introvert. |

No, I'm not dangerous |

Yes I agree, diversity runs rampant through out humanity (thankfully). I played music in a band for 30+ years and had the pleasure of opening shows for major recording artists which meant I was in front of thousands of people at times, but there was this invisible barrier between myself and the audience called the stage which made it OK. I just thought it would be fun for some of us to look at our personalities and compare. |

I am about the middle. Im told that its not about whether you like being around people and more about whether you long for their input. Extroverts want to know what other folks think, not because they cant make their own decisions, but because they like having their ideas and wonder how they measure up with their own. Introverts dont need anyones input. Not that they dont care about other people, but they dont need a checking system to make them happy. This is how it was explained to me. hmm. now im confused. even though I don't put that much stock in this test. yet your explanation brings to mind a highly insecure introvert who seeks the input of everyone and is afraid to think for herself. |

I've been both ways off and on in my life.
I'd say that I lean more introverted at this time. I don't think anyone is completely one or the other... |

I didnt mention insecurity, or being afraid to think for themself? dont get me wrong...Im sure you know someone like that, but its not what I described. I don't necessarily agree that extroverts need a "checking system" to make them happy, or that introverts don't seek anyone's input. Extroverts tend to interact with others easily. I don't think it means they're always looking for validation, which is what you seemed to describe, though. |

Here's a project I did about four years ago, check it out: http://iaec.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=992 When I was a kid I used to take old and broken electronics apart just to see how they worked and all. My mom used to be an active alcoholic so I would take the empty wine bottles and I made a lab. I used to get chemistry sets. I would also get electronic sets from Radio shack. I had microscopes, and a neighbor gave me an old oscilloscope. I've always had a passion for electronics and technology. The best job I had was doing PCB manufacturing, but I left because of the company I worked for. |
