how do you define dating? how do you define relationship? how is that different from a friend or acquaintance? it would seem that dating and relationship involve actually spending time together. interaction between real people in a variety of situations. if all that happens is online, perhaps it's not going to last long.

No, eventually the relationship must progress beyond the internet and if there is distance between you and her, that must be eliminated in progression of the relationship. online/ldrs may spark a relationship or keep a preexisting relationship going, but its not a relationship in itself.

It takes a lot of time even to form a relationship. As matters stand, online dating -- chatting -- seems to be long-lasting. Struggle ahead, until you succeed :)

I would imagine "online dating" or "online relationship" last longer than 'in real life' "dating or relationship" since the two people never actually really ever meet face-to-face, so in all reality the other person can be whoever they want to be and/or whatever the other wants (needs?) them to be. Is online dating or relationship long lasting? It certainly can be....but at some point you have to get together and see if you click in real life for the relationship to move forward
