I am a country girl through and through at heart...
but happen to live in the noisy dirty concrete jungleland now... hopefully not for much longer... but I get away as often as I can... to visit family and friends all over and ride my bike to the river and the parks and visit my kids and other people who live in more peaceful locations where you can still hear the hummingbirds singing in the treetops during the day , and actually see the bright stars and constellations, and listen to distant coyotes & wolves in distant places... dance in the magic & evening glow of the fireflies...Oh!! & hear & see the barn owl in his night time flight.... |

I'll take country over the city anytime...

When 'the creepy crawlers' try to slither nearby... & the cold concrete city blues" try to seep into my very soul... I listen to & sing songs like this one... Till It Shines. Words and music by bob seger Take away my inhibitions Take away my solitude Fire me up with your resistance Put me in the mood Storm the walls around this prison Leave the inmates Free the guards Deal me up another future From some brand new deck of cards Take the chip off of my shoulder Smooth out all the lines Take me out among the rustling pines Till it shines Like an echo down a canyon Never coming back as clear Lately I just judge the distance Not the words I hear Ive been too long on these islands Ive been far too long alone Ive been too long without summer In this winter home Still if we can make the effort If we take the time Maybe we can leave this much behind Till it shines See the rich man lost and lonely Watch him as he dines Sitting there just testing all the wines Till it shines |

I think LIVING in the country is best but still prefer being within striking distance of a city or 3. I live on a lake and have 3 cities in 3 different directions that are each 45 minutes away. My job relies on being near the high population areas but I can commute to it this way!I like my cake and eating it too!!

Country living for me...but within reach of the big city if I choose to go there for a visit or something.
That's why I love my part of Connecticut I call home...the area where I am is country through and through (and it just rocks this time of year...foliage everywhere...the only thing I could do without are all the "leafers/leaf-peepers" that decide to drive really really slow on the roads on weekends )...but, NYC/Long Island/North Jersey are only about 90 minutes away (either by train or driving..or in the case of the Island, a ferry trip from Bridgeport), Boston's about 3 1/2 hours away, and heck, Philly, Baltimore, and DC aren't THAT far (probably around 4-5 hours to Philly and Baltimore..6 for DC). |
