I have known someone here who is shy and at the moment in Nigeria. Everything fine but I am careful because he's telling me he loves me and didn't see me in person.. Only some pictures. He also told me he has lost his wife - she was also at the US Army - and he has lost his patents in an accident. Now he needs money for a leave request to visit me. All the guys who need money get it from their family... Is that right? Is he cheating me? Thanks for your help... Nigeria?... the entire country is a scam

Classic "love con", with all the modern twists. Google "419 scams" and learn the most common. Don't be a mark.

My advice is don't send any cash. If he's genuine he'll find a solution elsewhere. If he's a scammer it's better you find out sooner while you have not expended too much love, energy, money, hope or time. Pray about it also and follow your wise instincts not your loneliness instincts. Also, if everyone around you is saying the same thing there must be some wisdom in what we are all saying. I do not reply to any one who says they are from houston or dallas and are widowed and working in Africa they use names like a lst name as a last name and a last name as a first name, and they use the term pls a lot instead of please , you can always tell they are not american, by the way they use simple sentences Most of all I would never send anyone money ever! The ones that really tick me offf are the ones that say they are in the military and need a care package!

Sending money is certainly the wrong approach at this time. I have been through it with many women on this site also. If really wanting to meet; a flight ticket one can ask family as you mentioned, specially if your offering a place to stay for the duration of the visit.

predators prey upon the emotions of others, speaking and writing words to create the emotions one WANTS to feel, to get one to DO as one wishes of them. and since third world countries are so impoverished, a hunter gatherer predator mentality will dominate these places. all the advice in this thread is direly factual. wise decisions are based upon logic not emotions.
