Ex Machina
Hard core scifi film. A little blood, a little action, and a little romance. Who was it that said scifi had to be all special effects and explosions? |

It was decent. I liked the haunted house/hayride attraction setting. Also the police were very believable, turns out it's because real police were used instead of actors. Love that commercial. Pretty good sequel. Picks right up where the previous left off. |

The Tale of Zatoichi (1962).
Just finished it a few hours ago. about a blind swordsman of some reknown, but also has dealing with local gangsters. A lot of character drama but a pretty simple story and there's a powerful theme about both rivalry (two warring gangs trying to kill eachohter) and respect (Zatoichi meets a dying warrior who happens to be employed by the adversaries gang, but they wind up gaining thissort of common ground and friendship even though they both know in the end one of them has to die by the others hand probably). It's a really powerful and moving Japanese classic in my humble opinion. One I won't soon forget. |

Ruth, what is your opinion on Babadook??! I really liked it. It had a pretty deep message in addition to just being a good scary movie. |

Re watched this little low budget early 70's sleaze-fest. The film is more known by its re release title I Dismember Mama.

I recently watched Mad Max Fury Road. I'm lucky to have watched the original Mad Max movies on the big screen in the 80s and 90s. This new movie was excellent. Action packed from beginning to end. And the vehicles and effects were awesome. Only negative was the ending was so sudden...the whole theatre including myself were left waiting for more until the lights went on and everyone realised it was actually finished
