Baroque, Classical, Romantic, etc? What do you listen to?

loud and romantic songs exactly .... what about u ?

I'm really into postmodernism right now. I'm studying some Barber pieces and it's really neat to jump into some of this atonal and ametric stuff.

But most of the time I like Romantic(Schubert mostly) and Baroque(so much Handel). Classical is fine, but never really did much for me. I mean Haydn and Mozart are fine, Beethoven's great, but I just don't get much out of it.

sure you are an expert more than me in this area cause i am just a listener to songs and music that only attract me and i am studying commerce but really you have a big sense of good music

Yeah, Beetohven's 3rd is nice, but my favorite of his is the 7th symphony, movement 2. :) So moving!
I'm hardly an expert on classical, though. Most of my studies have been in choral music, and there's not really a lot of well-loved classical choral music. All the really famous choral works are from other eras it seems.

generally for classical music for me need to special mood , when i have free time , in the early morning and when i am studying maths lol , but in my boring or happy time i prefer sure modern music , and that do not mean that classical works only for past people or from other areas as you said :))

Richard Wagner's : Die Walk�re , Der Fliegend Hollander , Moonlight Sonata , Tannh�user , Wedding March ..

"modern" classical music as well , Yanni , Richard Clayderman , Ggheorghe zamfir

Ludwig van is the heavy metal of classical, 3rd symphony (Eroica) especially. Last movemebnt of the choral symphony is over the top (just the way I like it) but like one of my other heroes Freddie Mercury said "If its worth doing its worth over doing" (probably with a few darlings thrown in,lol).Rossini's Thieving Magpie and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 are also awesome.

Ps this is only my opinion but I would class some of Mike Oldfields earlier stuff as classical and his Music from the Spheres which he released a few years ago!

Did Wagner do a moonlight? I'm pretty sure that's Beethoven's. :/
Anyway, Wagner's a funny guy, and I don't mean like hilarious. He's just a weird character. You know he supported animal rights but was strongly antisemitic? Weird priorities. The arts bring us all kinds, hmm?

yep Moonlight Sonata is Ludwig Van's. I should know my late dad was obseesed with two musical people Beethoven and Elvis an unlikely duo you will agree but if it wasn't one on the turntable it was the other!!

Ps a bit of trivia about Beethoven, he was born during a thunderstorm and died during one (not the same one obviously,lol)

I don't know that Beethoven and Elvis are so unlikely a duo. They were both very full of feeling, both western music, both pushing toward a new era.

talking about new eras , never forget to mention the King of Pop , he made a "revolutionary" step forward in many fields .

I assume you are on about Mr jackson. To me he was a music chameleon, he roped different producers in, and different musicians such as Eddie Van Halen and Slash. Anyway we are going off the beaten track. Back to classical. Holst Planets Suite is also a masterpiece, specially Mars the bringer of war.

I was going to play bells on an arrangement of Jupiter when I was in concert band, but the program changed and we didn't do that piece. Pity, that. It would have been phenomenal.

Yep your not wrong. I was in the school orchestra many moons ago playing the cornet. The closest we got to classical was Yeoman of the Guard by Gilbert and Sullivan and we also did Oliver which although dosen't count as classical has some world famous songs in it. I did however play many classical pieces in the local brass band I was in for a few years. One piece of music that makes my hairs stand on end everytime I hear it though not deemed classical is Barcelona by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caball�. Its as close to classical as you can get, in my humble opinion anyway !!
