@ techno: Fascinating chart, fascinating concept. I don't know if they're related, synonymous, off-shoots, or completely unrelated, but if you're not familiar with it already, Google "The Web Bot Project". From what I recall reading, it was a program designed years (decades?) ago originally intended to monitor to the internet's *consciousness* to get a better read for making stock projections...it followed what people were *discussing* on the internet. According to what I'd read, the government was so intrigued by it and its revelations, it's been using it...and (in retrospect) can be used to predict world-wide catastrophes, in advance. We just need to be able to tie the messages of the online sentiments, in real time (rather than after the fact) TO be able to accurate predict - and forestall - horrific events. I'll have to look into the Web Bot Project, thanks for the suggestion. The way that I understand the purpose of the Global Consciousness Project is it's a search for evidence that humans can communicate empathically. So in the context of the data recorded on 9/11/2001 it may have been a collective reaction to the events as being experienced by those who were there. |

@ techno: I mentioned your post to a co-worker; he, too, was familiar with the GCP. He indicated skeptics tried to poo-poo the results because 9/11 was a 'man-made and *man-ufactured*' event, so of course there'd be increased online chatter (i.e., 'consciousness'). Unfortunately for the naysayers, the same graphic testimony occurred with natural disasters, too, like tsunamis and earthquakes. Interesting and hard-to-ignore-the-implications-of stuff! |
