In my experience the "how" is to have something to say that you really want to say.
What you say should have some purpose that you care about.
Rather than simply a ploy to try and fulfill some ulterior motive.

Talk to her like you want to talk to her, and that you care what you are saying, not like you have to talk to her to get to the next thing you want.
Worry more about what you say than what she may or may not think.

If you really don't know what to talk about then your life may be boring and pointless and maybe you should try to find something you enjoy doing with a modicum of passion so you can have something to talk about.
