The shooter in the awful Newtown shootings was initially misidentified as well, and in recent years, social media has also been the medium of false death reports. Once a piece of information, true or false, is out in the social media world it’s impossible to wrangle it back in.

Broadcasting is accurate? It was falsely reporting and skewing facts long before social media came along.

not nearly as much, I remember when there were only five channels and an antenna, there was much more accountability for what was reported and much more expectation that the facts had been checked and verified,,,,
