Neat idea. What kind of range does it have? How do you keep the air hot enough to provide sufficient lift? Finding a way to power a pump to refill a tank might be tricky though.

Maybe someone could hack an RV furnace that uses propane, into a rig with the thermostat controller for control of the flame... and then you could use propane bottles that might be an easier find when scavenging... Those 20 lb tanks are pretty common. Hmmmm... Sort of a Mad Max/Waterworld thing... maybe hack a propane genset for the motor and affix a pulley/belt system for a propeller... but, the wiring of the motor would be toast, so... scratch that... hmmmm.... pedals! Hack a bicycle and a pedal powered propeller.

Well, if society were to end, we'd all have plenty of time to tinker with stuff, it's not like we'd all get up and go to work.

Personally, I'm gonna crack a cold beer (while they're still cold) and pull my lawn chair in the shade to watch the chaos. Society only exists because we all agree to it's laws (and the consequences of breaking them), but reality shows that we're really only 15 minutes from anarchy, anywhere. It seems to just erupt, but only regionally, for now.
