His work from the 70's through early 80's definitely. After that though, except for a few outstanding moments like Scent Of A Woman and Heat he's been hit or miss for me. Like De Niro he seems to have become a parody of himself.. Though recently I did enjoy Pacino in Stand Up Guys alongside Walken and Arkin.

One of the very best. I especially liked his performance in Dogday Afternoon. I read the book before I saw the film and was expecting it to be a disappointment but Pacino and "Fredo" managed to pull it off.
