new years party. I was twenty one he was twenty. neither had experience. bumped our nose first trying to figure it out. laughing. nervous. embarrassed. the kiss itself was sort of aftermath and we both wondered what the big deal is.

Ninth grade, I was 14. Finally agreed to double-date with my best friend, her boyfriend and the BigJockOnCampus, Carey Jones, 2 years older than myself. We went to a drive-in movie. My girlfriend and her boyfriend, long established, were going at it in the back seat. Cary pulled me close in the front seat and began to kiss me, a first for me. I burst into tears. Couldn't stop to save my life. They were all disgusted with me as I insisted I wanted to go home. The next day, in the ladies room, I overheard 2 girls talking about that nasty 'french kissing.' That was when I knew what had happened. I had no Mother, so no one had prepared me. I was very grateful I didn't get pregnant. And yes, I thought, then, that the kissing surely would have done it.
