The Firefly and The Sun King Under a most enhancing and glorious sunset moon, Where night creatures creep in their silent cadence, I realize I've flown my way back too soon, Viewing your golden opulence, your magnificence, Your exquisite radiance O' Night of wonderment, night of the meaningful promise, I am but a firefly in flight across your cotton candy sky Make me new! Make me youthful! The cool promise of my birth, Take me home to where I wish to be, And with your golden beams upon my wings, Show me moonglow, that essence of my worth Let me feel this cool serenity . . . Sun King, master of all that rises in the east, All guided by your warm being, ( those of us hidden in the shallows of the wood, ) Take me adrift across your turquoise skies, To your eventful days end, beyond all I am fleeing, I'd wish to be safely home hidden in the shadows of night's, Holy promise . . . Last week I watched the sun give way to the harvest moon with such appreciation and felt the cool evening breeze crest my body as I sat gently rocking in the glider. So when I read your poem I was able to relate from within myself. I appreciate you sharing.
I imagined you sitting outside there in Ireland shaping words to describe what you were experiencing. Well done! |
