Topic: The Secret War On Black Republicans | |
---|---|
In a Daily Beast column titled "The Secret War On Black Republicans", African-American columnist Keli Goff asks, "Why are racist attacks on black Republicans so underreported by the media?"
Excerpt: There has been much written about the racial rhetoric that has permeated political discourse since President Obama took office, and the media often highlights the racially inflammatory language used by some of his opponents. But racially charged language targeting black Republicans rarely receives much coverage, further fueling conservative suspicion of the mainstream media.
I can answer Goff's question. Racism aimed at black Republicans tends to come from Democrats. Exposing the racism within the Democratic Party would be counter-productive for media members who favor the Democratic Party. |

this is a hard topic to have discussion about, since it claims something isn't there,,,,,
Im not sure how the op comes to the conclusion that something is 'underreported' , how is that determined? |

this is a hard topic to have discussion about, since it claims something isn't there,,,,, Im not sure how the op comes to the conclusion that something is 'underreported' , how is that determined? OK, another topic of which you know nothing. Check your facts first. The under reporting of the liberal news bias against black Republicans has been going on as long as I've seen them on TV. The double standard is OVERWHELMING!!!!! Here is an example of HUNDREDS that can be found if you look! "Upcoming Republican star Raffi Williams, the deputy press secretary of the GOP, became the latest minority conservative to suffer the bigotry of the far left. Wayne Dupree reported: Jamilah Lemieux, Senior Editor for Black Magazine EBONY became the latest liberal attacker on black republicans through the social medium Twitter by calling RNC Raffi Williams a “White Dude” and talking down to him as if were beneath her. I didn’t know that EBONY management tolerated this racist tone from their management team. As you will see in the exchange below, Lemieux throws out the racist language to shut down the conversation. Contact Ebony offices and let them know you would expect more from their management staff. (212) 397-4500" |

lol, the post makes no sense,,lol
check your facts? really? so , the way of showing htat something is 'underreported' is to give an alleged example (not included in the post , btw) and then make the claim that HUNDREDS can be found if you look,,,lol so,, not so underreported after all???? |

msharmony, did you even read Keli Goff's column? I provided a hyperlink to it.
Yes, the racism aimed at black Republicans is very real. You could even say that it is a part of that hidden racism that you have previously mentioned. |

You are being thick. It is under reported in the main news sources because the BIAS is shown in the liberal main news sources. THAT IS THE TOPIC!!! "Make up the claim?" I got 14,000,000 hits on the topic. |

Here is an excerpt from a column written by liberal African-American journalist Juan Williams:
There is a disgraceful double standard amongst liberals, particularly those in academia, in the hatred they direct at black conservatives.
We saw this last April when the conservative neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson was forced to step down as a Commencement Speaker for Johns Hopkins University (where he ably served as the head of pediatric neurosurgery). Liberals on the Hopkins campus mobilized against Carson because he criticized President Obama's health care reform law and said that he opposed gay marriage. I am not a conservative but I have spoken out for years against the staggering amount blind hatred directed at black conservatives by liberals. Liberals are shockingly quick to demean and dismiss brilliant black people like [Condoleezza] Rice, Carson, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Professor Walter E. Williams and economist Thomas Sowell because they don't fit into the role they have carved out for a black person in America. Black Americans must be obedient liberals on all things or risk being called a race traitor or an Uncle Tom. I've experienced some of this vitriol firsthand when I have veered by liberal orthodoxy. I wrote about it in my book "Muzzled - the Assault on Honest Debate." |

Harmony, you are fighting a losing battle on this issue. Conservative blacks and Republican blacks have been complaining for decades about this subject. Look at how much was ever reported on Condalisa (sp?) Rice's point of views, or Colin Powell. they are just labeled as "uncle Tom" blacks and swept to the side by the media.

In an April 2014 opinion piece published by CNN, African-American commentator Tara Wall says the following:
I can't remember exactly when I began reading Ebony. I've been flipping -- now scrolling -- its pages as long as I can remember. Like family, it's just always been there and helped form my perspective.
That's why it was so troubling for me when a senior editor of the esteemed magazine, Jamilah Lemieux, recently went on a Twitter tirade against black Republicans, failing to uphold the standards that I'd come to expect from Ebony. So, whether or not it is hidden, there is a war on black Republicans, and it is being waged by Democrats who are opposed to there being diversity of thought among black Americans. |

That's my point! They held high positions and were seldom reported on in the mainstream media. After they left office, it's like they fell off the face of the earth.
We are still bombarded with "Hillary this", and "Hillary that" on a daily basis. |

We are still bombarded with "Hillary this", and "Hillary that" on a daily basis. I read negative and positive press on all of the above, it SEEMS like I read and hear alot more press and ANIMOSITY, however, towards Hilary Clinton,,, just personal perception though, I cant therefore claim that anti Powell or anti Rice sentiment was 'underreported',,,, |

msharmony, it looks to me like you are sincerely unaware of the racist comments that have been directed toward black Republicans.
Perhaps you are unaware of those comments because they have been under-reported by the American media. |

Perhaps you are unaware of those comments because they have been under-reported by the American media. dodo, I sincerely dont have an expectation for the mainstream media to cover EVERY instance of insult or attack or negative comment that involves a racial element, and therefore, dont consider any 'war' to be going on just because of whether or not I have seen a story as often as I think I should have or where I think I should have,,, perhaps this 'war' is overperceived,,,,,, |
