and lastly... the MASTERPIECE!
story behind this is.. 15 years ago I sat and drew up my first drafting design of this "one day" project.. 7 years ago I bought and cut all the wood to spec.. on Dec. 21st I finally built it!


I had done everything except.. I couldn't install the last 2 pieces-the top side panels...

VOILA.. the FINISHED product!

oh and.. I made the rod/pole for the curtains and the supports as well.. still have to hang a few pictures, finish staining and installing the rest of the baseboards and casings.. and look for a new/antique/cool kinda door for the room..

I've already started drafting up the designs for the hall floor.. have ta paint there first though..

OMG.....I am speechless seeing the works you have done!! I have only respect for you on a job so well done. I would never be able to do all this, not even a fraction of it.
Give yourself a pat on the back and congratulations on a job welldone, Zee!

not sure if I could do something like that by myself.. shoulder and fibro wouldn't allow me to do that..

aww shucks.. thanks Amelinng.. you'd be amazed though at what we humans can accomplish once we decide to.. my dad used to say.. "you can do ANYthing, you put your mind to" he was sooo right

just another life lesson of, how NOT to give up on your dreams, and how patience IS a virtue

that said.. I bet you can do tons of things I can't(until you teach me of course )

yup.. the difference is sis.. it's no longer a pile of unfinished wood layin on my bedroom floor

that Tung oil did a good job at bringing out the cedar's natural colors and beauty huh yup.. amazed meself!

it wasn't all that difficult really.. most of it was put together while it was laying on the floor.. I used the walls to square it off properly.. after making sure the walls were straight of course

the rod was a bit tricky though.. specially with the type of supports I made.. but as you saw.. figured it out eventually

yeah.. pretty darned happy with the outcome I am!
