A Las Vegas woman who was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year has passed away, after desperately trying to enroll in Nevada’s Obamacare exchange and waiting months for coverage.

Linda Rolain could not afford insurance on the private market, and she was suffering from a life-threatening illness, making her a prime candidate for Obamacare.

Her husband Robert tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he and his wife had tried enrolling in the state’s exchange when it was rolled out, and immediately ran into problems.

Rolain’s husband, Robert, said the couple began trying to sign up in November, well ahead of the Dec. 15 deadline for January coverage. After wrestling with repeated sign-up problems, the Rolains bought a plan that took effect in March.

But they said [Nevada Health Link contractor Xerox's] staffers miscommunicated the policy’s effective date, so they didn’t know until May that they had coverage.

She finally underwent brain surgery in May, struggling through her recovery. In the meantime, the Rolains went public about Xerox’s mishandling of Linda’s coverage, and joined a class-action lawsuit against the company.

Robert says that if Obamacare had worked earlier for her, she might still be alive today, the Las Vegas Sun reports.

“I want the people of Nevada to know that they might have got rid of the cancer with a little chemo and radiation,” Robert Rolain said in an interview last week.

Linda Rolain was admitted to hospice care in early June and passed away on June 30. She was 64.

Obama should be tried for her death. This is complete BS. He knew Obamacare wouldn't work before he made it law and should have had it fixed and working before making it live and law.

Just another example. I barely make enough to live off of but now I have to Pay close to $350 a month for insurance for crappy coverage. Before I was paying $60 a month for AWESOME coverage!

As a brit I find it astonishing that the worlds most powerful country cannot provide a national health service. Astonishing that the American people are so naive that they dare not even try to rise up and smash the corruption that is the American system because of the pure control the state and the rich have over the people. Sad indeed, the UK is similar but the public would revolt if our health service was handed to insurance scammers

If you really believe that the government can provide services better than the private sector, then I have some ocean-front property in Arizona to sell you.

Interesting. Maybe you can provide a source to back up your implication that private sector is better than public sector. Here's one that says you're wrong. For large systems, private sector operations add overhead with obligations to shareholders or profits, while service rarely improves. Sure, you could point to certain government agencies, like your state's departments of motor vehicles and such, but there are great examples of the opposite. The Postal Service, where in the US, we can send a letter for less than 50 cents, and the cheapest alternate service will cost you several bucks.
