Instant messaging sucks,, needs improvement!

Try texting?

HOW DO I IM?
First, you must have YOUR 'Instant Messaging'
turned ON:

(Or >>My Account>>Settings>>Turn ON IM)

Then you would go to the profile of the person
with whom you wish to chat.

Under their picture there is an orange button
'Instant Message' which you would click on and
the request to Instant Message is sent.

If there is no orange button labeled 'Instant
Message' it could mean one of two things.

The person does NOT have 'Instant Messaging'
turned ON.
(In which case you could email them and request
they turn it ON.)

Or, the person is in 'Stealth Mode.'

Instant message window not opened but browser tab shows"new message from unidentified person" something like that..pls help.

I am having trouble with the IM as well. I send a reply to someone, but it doesn't go thru right away. To the point that they sometimes ask if I'm still there. Our messages seem to cross paths quite a lot and it's hard to keep a conversation going.

I find it really slow. Is there any way to speed up the 'send' time after you hit 'enter'. FaceBook chat is really fast - your chat is so slow??
