For Goodwill
You fill boxes for Goodwill with her clothes that are still in good shape clothes other can use now that she's gone maybe for a job interview or a first date and you almost smile through your tears as you imagine her straightening the collar of a favorite blouse a woman just bought so she'll look nice in church your mother smiling with pride at the end result and you realize why she idolized people like Mother Theresa and others like her who always gave when others needed whose hands fervently pushed the money into resisting hands sometimes too proud to accept it even though it would help and you can only hope as an adult now boxing her things up that you have at least half a heart as good as hers. |
