Do you find that the older you get the more you are just tired of people making drama or gossiping third party drivel? Isn't it mostly just talk but endless, mindless talk about other peoples' lives?

Isn't self-building enough of a challenge? I feel like the more I hear about other peoples' problems (the trivial ones specifically) I don't have the time, energy or inclination to give it attention or even give it a dignified response.

As someone who gives advice to other people sometimes I just want to decline because it's time I'm taking away from my journey, plans and insights.

Congratulations on reaching the "IDGAF" stage of evolution. laugh

This place is a vanilla waffle cone compared to another forum that I (and a few others here) frequent. There is more drama and bovine excrement than all the Jerry Springer shows combined. You almost need a biohazard suit just to lurk on those threads. Kevlar vest is optional, but recommended.

Working on self, is important. Part of that is dealing with extreme personality types. Learning about what you will/will not tolerate is part of that process and a big step on the path of enlightenment.

Actually, I quite like all the drama :-)

Listening to others seems a small price
to pay to maybe learn something.

Not this site but there is an entertainment that can't be described here
It was about people in general.

This 'other' site, and no, I will NOT promote it, ever, is a shark infested, acid filled swimming pool of Olympic proportions.

There are currently bands of users who have figured out a way to get other users deleted, simply because they didn't like something you posted, that was not even directed at them. There is even a feature that allows you to block any user, so that you don't have to bear witness to their particular flavor of insanity. Even with the ability to block, they create endless fake profiles for the sole purpose of flagging you to deletion (we call it FTD'd). Then there is the infighting, feuds that have lasted years, the posting of private emails, texts, personal information, criminal records, and explicit tales of their offline shenanigans. Accusations of STDs, infidelity, and projections of their own criminal behavior abound.

Thread topics, that were once only allowed in certain areas, now bleed into every subcategory of the site. Personal attacks are the first line of offense, the only defense is the truth, but that becomes so muddied after the trolls latch on and create even more "story threads" to continue to spread misinformation and propaganda.

It used to be moderated, but the new mods (ownership changes) have decided to forgo their jobs and will not enforce the posted rules. In fact, one mod was quoted as being "mad with power" and would re-edit anyone's post to HIS standards, which he promptly did, making the edited post appear pedophillic in nature. Much to the outrage of the members who witnessed it and the member whose post he edited. He also claimed that it's ok to misrepresent yourself and that he wants to see an antagonistic atmosphere similar to what is seen on gaming sites.

It's why I came here, to see this place and what it is about.

I had to reach the IDGAF stage pretty quickly when I came out.
I was worried sick about my fathers reaction and all's he said was 'I always knew there was something funny about you'
So if he didn't GAF, neither did I.

Which, is how I took it :-)
I do not judge others opinions of their own lives,
or to what degree they think their issues are important.

What is irrelevant to me, could be keeping them up nights.

No, not XXX. Not that you could tell that now. laugh

It used to be moderated, often. Like this place (which I like). But, the owner sold it to a mega corporate mess and it declined faster than the mercury on a winter night at the South Pole.

It was an interesting social media experiment that has run amok. bigsmile

I post in a flame forum that's not got much moderation. There is a rule though that you can't use personal information about other posters that they didn't bring into the ring themselves, so it's a bit stupid to take any made up BS that anyone says seriously. I find that the discussions there are more interesting because of the freedom of speach, while if you post in other sub forums on that site, mods get involved and they can be quite biased. It's not uncommon for a mod there to tell people to not respond to particular posters that are perceived as ruffling feathers and being disruptive, even when they're not going off topic and just saying contraversial things. You get these halfwits that hide behind mods by picking on people that the mods don't particularly like or agree with and when they haven't actually got an argument they will call you a troll as a substitute for one. They tend to be particularly touchy about politics. I suppose that it's because they're Americans. You can't really even discuss politics there unless you do it in the flame forum if you don't go along with the liberal PC dipshittery that the site owner encourages and they haven't even really got clear moderation rules because they say that they don't want any "rules lawyering", so the main rule is just "Don't be a jackass" and what counts as jackass behaviour is basically whatever the mods there don't like or agree with.

As interesting that some "gossip" can be as it may help us decide the character strengths and weaknesses of others in choosing who we may want to know or avoid, I've "tried" to steer away from using this particular method of information spreading most of my life.

Now as an elder if I have indisputable information that can aid others to make more informed choices I make it available in such a way as the facts cannot be twisted into something it originally wasn't.

Gossip can be very useful if presented in a positive context.

WOW!!! Now this information is very intriguing and has my curiosity stirred to awakening. Dangling the carrot and leaving me wanting to know more... perfect example of the usefulness of gossip and drama...

 Even more information I find very useful in my learning about how these sites really work. I would imagine that I too would feel the burning of the flames and can't help but to think once you get accustomed to it a thicker skin is developed.

This is a great topic and thread... flowerforyou
