I could be wrong but I believe it is a holiday older than America....(?)

Halloween originated under the name of Samhain as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries have embraced the holiday as a part of American pop culture in the late twentieth century.

Thankyou Fresh....

So it has just evolved into a party night amongst neighbourhoods, with a 'theme'....?

It makes a whole lot more sense now. Thankyou.flowerforyou

Halloween has eveolved for big dress up and big costume parties...
tourist watch people parade down the sidewalks of Kalakaua in Waikiki in their costumes...

some times people have group costumes....like zombie types raising out of their graves...honest..

it was sweet when we were kids...now parents have to do close examinations of the candies for sinister things...
what a sham we got unwrapped caramel apples and home made cookies on a plate:cry:

A FUNNY TRUE HALLOWEEN STORY:

I've been a customer at a hair-styling salon for years now. I've gotten to know a lot of the instructors ans students. About 10 years ago, I was getting my hair cut about a week before Halloween, and the girl cutting my hair told me they were having a costumecontest at the school on Halloween, and if I would be interested in being a "guest judge". I said yes, and on Oct 31, I stopped in, and walked around, looking at all the great costumes. right before I cast my vote, I saw one of the students at her station. She was wearing a dress and heels, normal clothes for a womam.
"Excuse me", I said, "Why didn't you wear a costume today?"
"I did",she answered.
"Did you change out of it?" I asked.
"No", she replied, "I'm wearing it now."
"I give up. What are you supposed to be?" I asked.
"I'm the Breck Shampoo Girl" she laughed.

For those that don't rember, the Breck girl was the one in the commercials who'd wash her hair no matter where she was, moaning like she was having sex. And no, I didn't vote for her(voted for Cleopatra),but I admired the thought and wit she showed.

Ok, I did this costume once, cost nothing but a little time. It was my girlfriend's idea and everyone agreed it was great, unfortunately at the party, no one got it. But I still love it.

Just wear anything, doesn't matter, sew fabric sheets, socks, bras, panties, whatever all over and go as static cling!

Ok, maybe we were drunk when we thought it up but I still like it bigsmile

I did an optical illution costume one year, of a Nerd carrying a
beautiful lady. It won first prize for best female costume.
It allmost got best couple costume-0nly it was just me.
I refered to it as my beauty and the beast costume.

Fake top part in back of me is the nerd, real me in the bottom as nerd.
Real me in the top part as lady, Fake bottom of lady in front
being held up by fake arms of nerd.

I love to dress up and have had such fun over the years!!!

Last year, I was in Myrtle Beach for Halloween( and I'll be there again this year). The Saturday night before Halloween, they had an Adult Halloween Party at Broadway at the Beach. They had every costume that you could imagine. I did notice two things:

1-Quite a few people-male and female-were dressed in 1920s era gangster costumes.
2-At least five different couples were dresed as Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife.

Can't wait to see what the "theme" is this year.
