Scars never fade, you just learn how to live with them.

You don't have to ever hit a person to break their spirit. But even that can be overcome and you come out stronger even though it leaves an emotional scar.
When you trust enough to love again that person is beyond special for having reached your heart.
But if they shared their hurt with you it was because they believed in you.

Not sure what type of violence you are talking about.

There is physical and psychological.

Both leave lasting scars on an individual.

You just do everything you can to move on and heal.

Gender based violence... the emotional impact lasts much longer than anyone can anticipate

The memories, feelings, and lessons last a lifetime and it's natural to internalize them, even try to hide from them. Pretend they didn't happen, because we never really understand why another person has such darkness in them to inflict it onto us.

But... if we survive a brutal attack we're thankful to be alive and our senses can protect us the next time. An angry, aggressive, or sick person gives off distinct vibes your instincts immediately recall and allow you to avoid getting involved and hurt again, so always listen to that still small voice of warning no matter how attractive or intriguing someone is.

Time, distance, and being nurtured by someone who loves you and understands your hurt, broken heart, and violated ego (trauma) are really the only things that help us live down the emotional pain and come to terms with the scars as they slowly fade.
