I just found out some news that I am not who I thought I was. My ancestry was investigated and researched. Our names were changed to "save face." I can't go into a lot of details, but I have thought I was half German "heinz 57" mix and now have found out I am actually German/Swiss royalty.
What would you do? Would you want to learn more or just live your life as you know it? |

Hello Jesusprincessmt, I am also German and I have researched my family extensively and I found it fascinating I urge you to do the same. Its quite rewarding!

I come from a family of secrets. We found out that our real heritage involves many castles. It was hidden to "protect" the family. Would you want to uncover that "dirty little secret" or just think you are a "fake name"

I did not research it. Another family member spent thousands of dollars researching and exploring it. He only told me a little about it.

Some things are meant to be hidden.
It's best if you live your life as you know it. Don't want to wake up any dragons / mummies from those castles... which extremely sounds like fun! |

It is amazing to read the stories and the facts about our past family. There was a man in my family history that stole horses and was hanged for his crime. It does not define who I am though. I define who I am. |

This family member told his dying dad and he is very angry. Wow JP! you must be proud of who you are. So if I was in your position I just let it go and try to enjoy life, simple as that!...The past is the past, do what is best for you and what your heart tells you to do!!! JMO

For example, one influential Germany family living in England changed their surname to "Windsor". |
