Let's see what kind of perversions you might come up with in the case of 'HAMMER'?!?!?

'... Wouldn't 'HAMMER' include 'HAMMERING'? Do any of you see something wrong with someone crushing the head of a squirrel with the hammer, or randomly throwing the hammer into a crowd of people, or using it as a weapon to murder someone?

Hell, cover-up all hammers of the planet!!!

People's perversions of the human body, just as people's perversions of most anything, is the danger, or the problem.

For what it is worth 'spider', I couldn't have dreamed up those erroneous images about the human body until you brought them up. If you confuse human body and bodily functions, there's no one here that can help you.

Speaking for myself, I'll invite you to keep your perversions in check. They might play tricks on you, and they are seriously disturbing!!!

voileazur,

A hammer doesn't have to be used for anything, it's an inanimate object. For a human to exist, they must pass gas, have BMs and urinate and many choose to masturbate. Your analogy is therefore invalid. To discuss the human body and ignore basic functions that keep the body alive would make so sense.

and so breast feeding is a natural body function , both necessary for the health and well being of each!!!flowerforyou flowerforyou bigsmile

Be carefull 'spider', if you insist on this very personal 'logic' of the universe of yours, people might get the impression that you are a pervert, only interested in your own perverted form of things!!!

I repeat: 'human body', 'bodily functions': DIFFERENT and DISTINCT! Given these different and distinct dimensions, of course you can consider the human body in a multitudes of ways without ever dealing with bodily functions.

As for your collapsing the two, let me ask a simple question.

Do you dress up, or otherwise cover-up that mouse and frog on your posting picture??? Are you otherwise ashamed of their body, or bodily functions? Do you collapse the two dimensions when it comes to those animate creatures?

'spider',

Just to stay on track with this debate, let's revisit the host's question and the triggering of your reaction, to which I replied.

The host's central question: '... is this obscene?', has to do with the picture of a mother breastfeeding her newborn.

I trust you would agree 'spider', that there is nothing obscene about such a picture?!?!?

Assuming we agree on that first test, the following comment from 'kidatheart70' :

"There's nothing obscene about the human body."

Got this reply from you 'spider':

''... That statement is just silly and thoughtless.''
I've assumed that to mean that on the contrary, there is something obscene about the human body.

To which you later added:

''... Wouldn't the "human body" include "bodily functions"? Do any of you see something wrong with someone having a BM, urinating or masturbating in public?
Now if you are talking about "naked body" as in the human form, then I can see that point of view.''

You seem to take exception with 'human body', which for some reason in your opinion would be obscene because of associated bodily functions, but for some unrational reasons, the naked body might not be obscene.

Not that I agree with any of it being obscene, but given your logic that there seems to be something obscene with the 'human body' because of bodily functions, following the same logic, doesn't the naked body have the same associated bodily functions, and therefore, in your own questionable logic, be just as obscene??? As to form, the human body, last time I looked, shared the same form as the naked body.

No one will think any less of you if you just admit that you had a moment of confusion when reacting to 'kidatheart70' comment: "There's nothing obscene about the human body."

For argument sake, I'll go on record with the statement that there is nothing obscene about the 'human body', the 'naked body' nor their 'bodily functions'. If anyone feels dirty and obscene going to the bathroom, there is professional for that.

Again, it is the particular perversion of those states, which very much falls in the subjective domain, morally and socially tolerated by a given individual or group, which in the end will decide of the obscene or non-obscene nature of the situation.

In this case here 'spider', maybe YOU, in your own logic, find something obscene about the human body. And you can believe that. But suggesting to 'kidatheart70' that not findng anything obscene about the human body is silly and thoughtless, would be engaging in an argument that is deadborn.

..seems we are of like mind - its perfectly natural, not obscene and we aren't offended by breastfeeding in public.

They did show on the news some of the "obscene pictures" that F******* deleted - you coulnd't see any of the breast, it was discretely covered by her shirt?

Everybodu has rules & rules are meant to be followed
Don't like the rules, don't go there.
You can always start your own site.
Then you set the rules.

True - but I think its the discretion or lack of it in this csse.

Why in the world would anyone want to post a pic of themselves breast feeding to begin with?

Preference - why would someone want to post a picture of their cleavage exposed, a close-up of their butt floss, a shirtlessman, etc... preference

Your remarks were neutral nad well thought out, but I honestly hadn't read your entire posts - yet.

When did this "morality" evolve into a sense of shame?

voileazur,

Let's be clear, Obscene means "disgusting to the senses"

I encourage you to visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_body so that you can see that "Human Body" includes all of the systems of the body and some of those systems perform functions that are widely considered obscene. If you however were to talk about the "Human Form", that's the image, the appearance of the body, which is often the opposite of obscene. If I have a hang up, it's that words have meanings.

So, I'm done, you can declare yourself the winner.

Well, the human body is not obscene.

Watching the human body go thru "bodily functions" is something I don't really care to watch.noway

In Other Words:

Looking at a naked lady: OK.

Looking at a naked lady taking a dump: NOT OK.noway

How did this evolve into what it did?

My original comment still stands! There's nothing obscene about the human body!

I see some extremely perverted thinking here. Why does it have to be win or lose? Why does everything have to be twisted into something it's not? Why is there such shame associated with the human body?
This is what is TRULY OBSCENE!sick
