.. predetermined

The things that have defined you.. Do you feel like they were meant to happen or do you just think it was a chain of events?

Do you believe in free will?

I just threw my alarm at the wall, free will had nothing to do with that one

Yeah its a bit of a conundrum! I agree though and think there's a bit of both involved. Someone told me that every possibility exists already its up to us which one we manifest into an ongoing sequence of reality. I like that

Its strange how the smallest thing can change things though. Youre walking down the street and a bird poos on you, a lady lends you a handkercheif, you ask for her number, things go well and you eventualy have a kid.

That kid is hitler and he changes the world. All because of bird poo

Lol

Maybe yes maybe no, i say it because it depends upon the matter

1. your angry. bec. of that sudden reaction towards the person who hurt you so much, you just knock at her door and throw somethng or push him/her, which eventualy gave him or her a graveous injuries. you never intended that will happen, it was an impulse bec. of the emotional feeling.

2. choosing, the function of our mentalities is there already but sometimes our heart overpowering our brain, which lead us into attempting suicide. especially those who are unfortunate, who cnt handle the situation well.

That makes a lot of sense too, LayLannie

It can be quite hard ignoring your emotions though. Or, to put it better, your natural impulses/instincts

Meditating helps me deal with life so much more pro-actively! What are your secrets..

'Predetermined' in what respect? Genetically? By some external force or being? Fate or destiny? Predetermined by environment?

Ima free will baby....it's too easy to blame fate so predetermination is for those who cannot take responsibilty...I believe we make our own fate and are responsible for our choices 100%

Can it be a little of all of the above? I think environment can have a massive impact on someone in terms of how they interact with and view the world, genetics probably enhance or limit the experience depending on this environment and an external force/being having the least immediate impact on people/persons but over the course of a lifetime the most defining

Never really broke it down like that before - what would you suggest for each of them?

I am seeing a lay out of never repeating choices that culminate into a history afterwards when one thinks about it, but where one event leads to the next, but not exactly and determined. I add that those choices are already set in stone somehow, in such a way that the free will which picks this way or that for no apparently clear rhyme or reason can be known ahead of time. It is the only thing that I know of that limits those infinite regresses of I thought this just to think of this, and know from that to this and so on. Idk, I feel like it all goes down according to some plan, but one that lets bumps and illogical connections interfer with how it plays out.

By about the early 20th century academicans kind of had the goods on that ancient (Greek era) philosophers argument.

It's neither.
Complex evolutionary diversity is how it works.

It's called chaos theory but only because it's all too complicated to be predictive, but it is utterly intuitive to recognize a coherent mechanical system at work.

yes, every decision we make leads to different events/situations...
then they become more decisions...
i think it's not a predetermined thing, but some decisions seem fated to happen, good or bad...

Indeed, and bouncing off that, quantum interaction is what you get escaping perfect order (zero state energy field), entropy is not a "running out of puff" it is a "falling with increasing rapidity".
It's perfect order which requires effort to maintain, the act of falling away from it, seeking a rest state causes a physical state of an open system field, I mean the very first thing that happens is GR wraps it all up in a singularity/expanding universe of quantum interaction.

So complex evolutionary diversity is for the living, to live, to fall with increasing rapidity into living. That also you're a part of the entire process, of its very mind.

Op means predetermined, as in the ebb and flow of matter; elementary particles, atoms, splatagrammatoms etc, in the ether. Thus rendering what will be, will simply be. Which is where “is the universe a hologram thingy” come from, and, other hypothetical, philosophical & metaphysical malarkey.

Tis like wondering if the universe is cyclical (oscillating) – one of the many cosmological models – and would it relive the same cycle or different cycles

Circumstances can influence things that happen around you to a point, but I still feel that you create your own destiny also! I'm happy in life just now, as they say you only reap what you sow? I sowed for years and never got much reaping in return, but I make a lot of my own luck at the same time and things have worked out! Anyone who works hard and goes that extra distance deserves whatever good comes their way!

I believe your destiny is predetermined... that is your arrival at any sad point... you approach a four way stop.. you being there arriving there at that time has already been pre determined... but you going left right or straight is up to you your choice free will.... gravity is a b****...

I think this is what people are not getting.... doesn't matter if his choice of OJ was due to a memory or not. It was STILL a CHOICE

period.

as are all things
