Topic: Is there any truth in dreams? | |

((((((Denise))))))
Peace my sister (((big Hugs))) Insomnia can be talked about in 2 ways analytically or spiritually. Either way it adds up to the same thing. Dreaming is a very real part of what you are, staying awake is also a big part. Both of them are equals. Sometimes people who have insomnia are trying to give themselves permission to sleep. Others are waiting for a sign or message. Your body also plays a big part in sleeping, or staying awake. As far as studying insomnia, and how to gain control of it, if you have tried the more analytical side then you may want to look at the spiritual side, or read up on other people who have creative minds. It could be as simple as one single creative thought that wants to break through. A good place to start is looking at the hidden vs the revealed parts of your life. michael |

Most of my dreams would scare the sh!t out of you people!!!!!
Hahaha!!I have very morbid dreams most nights. But sometimes i have the (REAL)dreams, like love and sh!t like that. But one dream along time ago befor my son(HES 19).In my dream i saw his mother(i mean it was her!!!!)anyways i was sitting in a park. All around me was brick on the ground in one big circle. And in the circle was six benches in one big circle, there were plants and flower pots all around. The trees around where blowing in one direction, softly not hard. There i was sitting in the middle of this magical place(no sh!t it was amazing). And there see was!! As she was walking towards me all i remember were her eyes. Then just like that she was next to me.Just sitting there just looking in her eyes. She smiled and told me she was haveing my baby.! Now remember this is like 8-9 years befor i had even met her. Anyways she got up and stood in front of me .My god she was so F1CKIN hot.!!She was wearing a black leather jacket, and the shortest lil mini skirt ya ever saw.She moved closer towars me now just about in my face. Now you know where im lookin!!hehe But thats when i saw the baby blue panties she had on.And i knew right there! I was haveing a baby boy.And then She turned around and just walked away.and it was like those movie walk aways, where she gets small and then a few seconds later a little smaller and the farther she walks smaller.Took forever it seems.See in my dream i would have never thought to think about her walking away in real life too.!And when she did it hit me like the planet hit me up side the head!!!!!!!!!!And There was my dream! At that very moment she walked out!She walked away leaving me and my son. Now it sounds horrible but it is was i drempt<--Ebonics. So if i would have read my dream and understood that she would someday walk out of my life would i have done what i did? Now years later no regrets what so ever about haveing my son. But if i didnt no what i no now would i have? Its one of those questions that will bug the sh!t out of you. I just assumed it was perfect! One of those Made by god things!!!!When i first met her.My life was planed out.And when it failed i blamed everyone but me.Im the one to blame because i knew!!!!I just didnt see it that way in my dream.I was in a perfect place, perfect girl, perfect everything! But now i see a perfect girl walking out of my perfect place!Leaveing me alone. F!CKIN B!TCH!!!!!! But i know i shouldnt say that. Its not her fault!!Yes it is the cheating b!tch. No you knew she would walk out of your life!! She came in my life and gave me the son i asked god for. And she left! It took many years for me to settle for that truth. And it was real! So theres part of bigsexys brain.Ive had some pretty cool sh!t happen to me in my life. Bigsexy..... |

I find myself dreaming about who or what my mind was on before bed. If Im stressed, then nightmares kick in, and then its awake I am until I am calm enough to sleep again. Sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't. My dreams are very vivid, when I do remember them I can look back once awake and see them. I think that is why when I have a nightmare that I awaken, and then can't sleep for hours laters.

I dream every night and I dream in color. Most of my dreams are pleasant, some are just silly. I have had a few dreams that have happened, though. For instance, three months before I met my first husband, I dreamed of him and a car accident we would eventually be in. It was so vivid and so correct, even down to what the EMT were saying as they came to get us out.

modern psychiatry claimed that during our dreams our unconscious minds express our doubts, desires and hidden wishes.
Your personality - and your circumstances - have a greater influence on your dreams . The truth is that a psychoanalyst who doesn't know you well enough is likely to draw dangerously inaccurate conclusions from your dreams. The person best equipped to `read' your dreams - and draw meaningful, useful conclusions - is the person who knows you best..... you. By studying your dreams carefully you should be able to make some sense out of what may seem, on the surface, to be a psychological rag bag of emotions, experiences and imaginary happenings. Dream interpretation varies from country to country. In some African nations a dream of money ( paper) is a forwarning to hard times ahead.Whereas a dream of a bowl of rice augurs good fortune. To dream of fishes in some South American countries preceeds the birth of a baby. A wedding dream signals a death to come, whereas death in a dream signifies a wedding.Death in a dream can also signal a re-birth of a person, especially if in real life you are in the process of moving, changing jobs, or about to get married. A dream of flying ( especially when you are expieriencing hard times) is the forerunner to a lifting of spirits( I prefer the spiritual slant) this is also applicable to financial gains as well. A crying baby in a dream it is said preceeds illness Fruit - to dream of fruit, especially ripe fruit, well, it goes without saying |

bonnie, do you know or ever talk to a shaman, some of the things you are saying sound so much like the things an old shaman has been telling me. yes we do have one thing in common we have both been flatline for extended periods of time, we have been to the other side and can remember a lot of what we saw. that is when we started having the dreams, most of which are not true dreams but are omens of things to come...

i've looked through some dream interpretaion books but a lot of them don't seem to follow the same symbolism and sometimes there are multiple meanings for each thing. your subconscious talking to you theory is always interesting but the few dreams that i do have don't seem to be completely random and don't seem to mean much of anything.

King, I studied psychology for 7 years, and a small portion of that was devoted to dream analysis/interpretation.
What I have seen, over the years, is that you really have to know quite a lot about the person before it's even possible to create a valid theory of what a dream might mean. I have read some of the same kinds of dream interpretation books you mentioned, and many of them are no more "scientifically-derived" than phrenology! There is a pop-culture, quick-fix, "_________ For Dummies" mentality behind a lot of them, as if this is something you could master in the time it takes to change a tire. And, as Bonny mentioned, there are cultural influences that can radically alter the meaning of a symbol from one person's dream to another's. It IS possible to glean some useful tidbits from dreams, though. I often do this for several close friends, but I never phrase it in terms of "This means this," because you can't really know. I merely tell them my interpretation of what they have related, and ask them if they see anything valid in that. For example, a close friend of mine recently had a dream in which he was engaging in some extremely uncharacteristic behavior. Over a period of about two hours, we were able to break it down and tie it to some thoughts he was having about an old friend who had suddenly popped back into his life after several years of being away. It was not easy to link the events of the dream to the person in question, but it did seem to fit, once all the pieces were in place. But again, this is someone I have known all my life, so I have a huge amount of perspective and history going in. With a stranger, I believe it would be almost impossible to discern anything one could characterize as "realiably accurate." |

there is truth in everything,,including dreams.

i've dream something--but then i wake up--i can't remember what i dream--

that is the same thing i thought when i looked through a couple books lex. i just didn't think anyone would have a chance at any accuracy using them.
i do believe however that the subconscious does release things through dreams and i have always enjoyed that kind of deep self reflection. i've only had one dream that was even remotely close to my personality or an event and it was eerily similar. the only difference was i didn't get attacked in real life. i'm not very schooled on the mind and how it works but i do know firsthand how strong it really is and i think most of our abilities are still untapped. |

I do believe dreams have meaning, and some DO foretell things to come. I have experienced it many times throughout life, but the events may not occur for years....

personally I don't put any faith on those people who write a book and put a lot of letters behind their name. for the most part they have no idea, what they are talking about.
