Only ones treated poorly would be the slackers.

You know, the ones who want to eat, housed and clothed without working for it.
Back then, there were no grocery stores.
The land owners cut sections for the slaves to grow enough vegetables, etc for everyone.
Did ya' know, slaves even had rifles and ammunition?
To hear told, all slaves worked in cotton fields.

Racist whitey haters only put out the slacker version of events.

That underground RR sent many escaped slaves to Canada.
Still no clue as to the fate of more than a few sent there?

lol at slaves were slackers

laugh laugh laugh laugh

yeah, THATS Why they were treated like 'property' and made to be submissive to WHITE FOLKS,, period

due uppance for being so slacking,,,

rofl rofl rofl

don't really care about the EXCEPTIONS that felt they had it good or didn't know anything better or even those who managed to escape

every topic has 'exceptions' to it,,,,,but nice distraction technique,,,

I am duly impressed with your ability to know so little about so much. And not only that, but your willingness to put it all on public view for so many to see.

I await with baited breath for your next enlightenment of us mere mortals.

Weird video! Some truth and some ... oddness.laugh

That pig plugs the arteries of more than Black people!laugh

I was thinking the same,,lol

the slave culture were pretty fit and yet they had mostly the leftover 'junk parts' of what their owners didn't eat

health is more about a balance than any one thing,

What? You got your info wrong. Slaves ate very well. Check out "Slave Narratives". I think that it's at the National Archives site. They were not starved and emaciated like you see in Africa. Owners generally took very good care of their slaves. They needed the slave to produce.

I never said they didn't EAT,, I said they didn't have 'healthy' diets but staples like potatoes and leftovers instead, and plenty of fried food,,

Really, so now you have done a dissertation on the dietetic habits of the American slave. Or would this be another of your life's experiences.

yes, because EVERY opinion posted here was that posters dissertation topic or personal experience,,,whoa

How many so-called factual accounts you suppose were told by slackers who only caused problems.

The popular, hate whitey movement would lose its flavor if the written accounts of content slaves were ever published.

They are published. Slave Narratives were taken during the 1930-1940's to document actual slave experiences before, during and after emancipation. They are written and recorded former slaves lives during the time. Many were sad that they were forced to separate from the families of owners. Millions of blacks faced poverty and hard times after the Civil War.
These should read before making assumptions of how things were or not.

I've read them. yeah, not EVERYONE was treated the same BY THEIR OWERS , rarely

I'm sure those who heard horror stories about MORE poorly treated slaves were very grateful 'massa' was so 'kindly' to THEM,,,

with that said though, socially, they were mere 'property' and not human at all,,,,in the level of respect or treatment,,

and they weren't eating what we consider 'healthy' diets today though they managed to remain healthy enough to endure slavery

which is why I say a 'healthy' diet is not the beginning or end of being healthy,,being healthy is a balance of things working together,,,

So let me get this clear, you read but have a problem with comprehension! Otherwise, how can you make these statements?

Healthy diet, they were plenty healthy when they were working the fields or doing other physical labor. However, a high fat, high calorie diet is very dangerous when you collect welfare checks or sit on your butts for a living, irregardless of race or gender.

obsess much?

I have what is better than the average reading comprehension from what I have observed in these threads.

being healthy and having a 'healthy diet' are two different things. Which was my point.

we wouldn't consider the diet of the slaves a 'healthy' diet by todays standards yet slaves obviously needed to be and were 'healthy' in body,,,

and yes, a BALANCE of things, including the caloric intake and output of a person contribute to their potential 'health'

not JUST what they eat, but how it is prepared and what ACTIVITIES accompany it,,,,

we are not as healthy as we once were with the same cultural eating habits because other 'habits' have changed,,,,

And how many years did you experience being a slave?laughlaughlaughrofl rofl

Stories told and retold again and again seem to somehow get EXTREMELY
exaggerated.

here we go again , implying that there is no way to have knowledge about things except through personal experiences,,,lol

I haven't been a slave, no one born today has, so I suppose everyone should just ignore it ever happened as we cant all verify written accounts through personal experience,,,laugh

If enslaving our children, and our childrens children to the debts of an out of control congress and executive thru their spending habits isn't slavery, I don't know what slavery is.

Some chains are not made of iron. A fiat paper currency seems to do the job quite well.

So your argument that nobody born today is a slave...... guess again!

Im talking the chains and whips and boats and direct unpaid servitude and whippings and robbed history and split families, and forced upon names,,, TYPE of slavery

there is a long list of other types of things humans in general are 'slave' to

And so was Sojourning_Soul, the problem is the view while wearing blinders misses so much.

no, Sojourn is talking about metaphorical 'slavery' , not physical enslavement, confinement, subjugation, and kidnapping, and forced family separation

that is not the NORM for any group like it was for American SLAVES,,,

the 'slavery' of politics doesn't compare,,,,

lol, I am not equally impressed with the pedantic sideshows and tangents constantly offered as rebuttal

Im aware of the waiting, I almost feel like the subject of some high school teens secret crush, screaming over and over,,, PLEASE NOTICE ME AND MY INTELLIGENCE!

btw, Im sharing opinions as is the case with 85 percent of those posting here,, wonder why mine are touching such a nerve or being scrutinized with such a double standard of expectation,,?

I am an imperfect mortal, just like you,,,laugh

sorry for those who are looking in the mirror and feeling like they are 'mere',, that seems like their issue , not mine

I certainly don't go around making it a habit of trying to prove how little others know about totally unrelated things to try to show how interested I am in them,,,,,

most people will study what interest them,, I don't expect people to be impressed with or intimidated by such behavior or knowledge,,,,

the irish weren't fit enough to REMAIN slaves though,, they were given the distinct option to work themselves OUT of servitude and become another 'white person',, they didn't have an additional and legal hundred years of LAWS making them second class,,,plus they wernt FORCED to come or stay here or give up their names or histories,,,etc,,,etc,,,

perhaps in IRELAND they can continue to discuss how IRISH were affected, in AMERICA its not really even close,,,
