Clasping hands they danced,
Smiling, cheek to cheek, Seventy years old, She seemed frail, a little weak. He held out his steady hand, Helped her twirl around, Fifty years passed by, There was not a dry eye to be found. When he held her, He lifted her spirits high, You could see the love, He loving glanced into her eye. The doctor told them both, She only had a week, So they spent it dancing, Dancing cheek to cheek. Everybody knew They had found a love divine, From the day he laid eyes on her, He knew life would be sublime. Oh he held her, He lifted her spirits up, Hugging, kissing, saying thanks, For she had given him so much. He reminded all his friends, How lucky he had been, Blessed with such a wife, Yet he could always remember when... When he held her, Nothing mattered as they danced, She had loved the man he was, Even in the worst circumstance. Like two angels, Gliding across the floor, They knew time kept ticking, So he held her like so many times before. When she finally passed, He held her one more time, This time he sang to her, He knew she'd say it was fine... So he held her, Dancing with her on the bed, The next morning the paper read, Goodbye Sally, Goodbye Fred... Together they spent life, Dancing cheek to cheek, They'd say to live your lives, Happy, taking a faith filled leap. SDF 9/8/07 |
