I run the AVG and it works very well but I also use the Ad-Aware SE which is highly recommended by a lot of gurus on here.
The Ad-Aware SE catches the crap that slides through the AVG. I was told that you should have several of these free ones loaded so you can run them alternately every so often to clean your puter.
Also you should have just one firewall working at a time. They don't work well together if there is more than one

Adaware is very good yes...but needing several I would say not

I use nod32 which catches most spyware and virii and run adaware now and then, my system stays very clean unless i do something totally idiotic. laugh laugh laugh

Re-newing your IP address is another way of getting a fresh connection from the cable source. I have cable and my cable guy had me disconnect the power source to the modem...disconnect the actual cable from the modem...shut down the computer.
Then wait for at least 2 minutes and re-connect the cable...then the power...then wait for 30 seconds till it all boots up good in the modem...thn turn on the computer.

I hope that helps. It will get you a clean connection.

Yes Steve that's fine but it does not hurt to run different ones that have a different list of infections. Every time I run a different one...it catches some that the others did not catch. You just think that you have gotten them all. The reports show only the ones that are on their specific list. That is why they are always asking you to download the latest list of viruses.

I simply say no to all those different programs because they are not needed, they only serve to bog down your pc,, most of em do the same thing anyway, the less processes you have running the better your machine will run, a good adware application and a good antivirus is all that is needed...weekly maintenance on your pc is recommended as well and being careful of downloads and websites you visit.... never download files with the .exe extension, scan each file downloaded before opening it. And STAY OFF PORN SITES! they are absolutely the worste for spyware and crap.

I agree with what you are saying. There should be only the 2 programs RUNNING in the background but!!!...you can have some of the other ones that just spot check when you tell them to.
F-Secure is one that you can load and set it to only scan when you tell it to do so.drinker drinker

I agree with steve all you need is one good AV I recomend Norton but that just my preference and spyware. You should delete your cookies and your temp files, to find ALL your temp files go to search and type in *.tmp hit search and then when its done delete them all. And go into your control panel and find internet options and delete cookies, folders, and history. This should help it run faster.
