I was in a relationship with someone six and a half years older and we had plenty in common, as far as remembering what it was like in the "old days" went. I've dated a lot younger and foreign women that I didn't have that in common with and it wasn't really a problem. It can be nice when you have had different life experiences and can talk about that with each other.

I think that it's more about having similar values. Saying that, my mum is religious and my dad isn't and their marriage works. My dad is quite conservitive though and I'm not and I don't date women that are like my parents and have their old fashioned values.
