something inspiring for this time of year,,,

SEATTLE -- A group of Seattle teenagers is getting into the holiday spirit by inspiring others to perform 1,000 acts of kindness through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center.

The group of 30 high school students is using the power of social media through Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #TheGiveEffect to spread their mission and campaign.

The teenagers are encouraging small-to-large acts of kindness in the community from stopping bullying to buying a stranger coffee.

“It can be as small as smiling at a stranger or helping a neighbor with the lawn,” said Dajeanne Washington with The Give Effect project.

“The Give Effect” campaign is holding a free Family Day event on Saturday at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center at 440 5th Avenue N. in Seattle from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Almost makes me wanna sang kumbyy'all fer about 45 seconds.

Sure they mean well. However, sitting in a waiting room of a multi-trillion dollar corporation instead of getting out and dirty in the streets will help whom?

everything starts one day at a time, although nothing in the op suggests that its only for one day or only encouraged on one day,,,,

cant even have one thread that supports something positive huh?

Don't see the irony?

2 or 3 in the Gates' circle of friends could end world hunger and poverty for a day.

That wouldn't end poverty here. In too many cases it's a lack of motivation.

Gangs could be disbanded in a heartbeat. That would kill many jobs.

Bullys won't stop bullying just because a geek is tweeting them to stop.

The bully will either one day stop or, become a dead thug or, ward of the state. More jobs created.

and all this makes helping others less inspiring how?

millions can do more than one, so can thousands, in most cases

yeah, in too many cases poor and rich people are lazy, and resort to bullying

but in many other cases poor and rich are working hard, and bullies are projecting their own sense of valuelessness and some kindness shown to them can start a change in their heart too
