My School football ( soccer ) team won the Scottish Schools under 18s cup, at Hampden Park, the Scottish national stadium and I scored that day also. Never forget that day! We won 5 - 3.

That season 87-88, we won that cup final, the league and another 3 cups. Went the whole season unbeaten also Pony! 6 players from that team went on to play professionally as well. I only ever made it to semi-pro level.

Thats quite the record, pretty crazy to have
6 players go pro, a lot of talent on one team.

I was a good centre forward but quit for a few
years and then went back but the team wasn't
playing like a team and I could no longer get
away with individual strikes, all the defenders
were tall and faster so a could get by them but they
could catch up. I could have gone pro
boxing easy, I had offers to go to LA then to
Detroit to Tommy Hitman Hearns club.
short legs for Football but looooong torso for boxing.

Pony, all me, my mates and my brother did when we were younger was have a ball at our feet and play football. I played Centre-half, in defence. That team to this day, was the best that's ever came out my School and there's been a few good teams over the years. You had to be good and consistent, cos if you lost your place, it was hard to get back in the team. Boxing, was good, but football won hands down mate! Still does, as I still play in my local league!

OIn the late 50s I entered a Kellogg's Corn Flakes contest and won a Lionel Figure 8 Train set. It even blew smoke.

Best:
When I was 11, the Oakland Tribune (newspaper) had a contest,
open to anybody, where you had to write an opinion piece, title "Who is God".

I loved to write so I zipped off a paper on it then went to
spend the summer with the non-custodial parent.

When I returned, and opened up the front closet door, there
was a complete lather-bound set of Britannica encyclopedia's.

Turns out I had won the contest. My wicked stepmother appropriated
them for the family.

Worst:

I must say I tend to have good luck.
I was on a cruise, playing Bingo, and I kept saying to the
spouse, 'I am NOT going up there in front of all these people
when I win.' 'Yeah, yeah', he kept saying.

Then the inevitable, I whispered, 'Oh ****, I won' real quiet like.

He jumps to his feet, trying to get me to stand up and go get the
prize ($16,000 cash) and I refuse, so he grabbed the card and went
and got it.

It has since occurred to me, to be careful what I enter.

Best thing I've ever won monetarily speaking was $500 in Las Vegas.
Best thing in another category...speaking with someone who won my heart.
