I think you can, under the right conditions! For example this forum! There are people we talk to here who may not include a picture but if we talk to them enough we get a sense of them and what they are like deep down...if they have a sense of humor... Basically fall in love with the essence of them.. Not the package they come in!

I think you can..I actually talked to someone for a year and then came the phone calls. We never exchanged photo's so we just went by what each other had in their hearts.
Then he flew here and it was everything and more that I expected. My family and friends loved him and I knew that he was the one for me. I then flew to New Zealand and it was great..beautiful country. I actually came home with a ring on my finger. BUT when you are 9000 miles apart, it just can't work. No one has that kind of money to keep flying back and forth. Plus I couldn't move and he decided he didn't like the states as much as New Zealand. So one thing I know...I will NEVER fall for someone who is an ocean away. It was a good lesson though. An amazing vacation and I got a stamp in my passport!!

I take it you're over that, but most have been horribly painful!  I think you can easily fall for someone you haven't seen as falling in love is based on psychological projection. Whether you see the other or not. Kind of makes me wonder about the importance of pheromones and body language? --> based on communicating on forums, I can guestimate pretty well who I like and whom I'd (probably) get along with and which people would not work out at all. |

If we're talking about falling in love "online", it's possible to fall in love (or think you are) with a "part" of the the whole package based on an image you form from exchanging email, phone calls, skype, and forum participation...Even when you take advantage of all available modes of communicating, you are still relying on your perceptions which are only as good as the degree of honesty used in the communication process ...I think the only thing that it's possible to determine online is who you want to meet based on the "potential" for love to develop...

That was then. Now, it's pure, nekkid truth. To be in love takes a long time. We can live together not knowing if we are truly in love. Perhaps, that's what they call growing apart. One day, after months or years of not wanting to see it, one of the pair wakes up and decides it ain't love after all. And they're gone. I can love many souls. I can love many shapes and forms. How will I know if it's being in love or just a deep infatuation? In time. |
