Indeed I do. Even though I mean MOST of what I say in my forum post's, I wouldn't mean for any of those things to come off as harsh or ragey. Sometimes I really like to take the mickey out of myself, so I do jest a lot. I tend to not believe anyone who say's they never have even just one regret. Really? Not even ONE?

Ever re-read your posts and felt embarrassed and regret? OMG at least once a day. The little stuff like typos and spello's are really kind of more funny than embarrassing but yea. Drives me nuts if I have to ramble around to get my thought on the page. That embarrasses me and I am glad most are very tolerant. Real regrets...only if I truly hurt someone's feelings (that hurts me much deeper than most would believe); especially if it is unintentional. Or someone I like or feel protective towards. To me someone's soul hurts for something I said then I owe them some of mine. I try to say I am sorry and take whatever punishment I have coming. Lot of times I punish myself way worse. But I still kind of believe sorry is a very limited tool and it doesn't ever really undo the pain. Don't think it is an accident that there is no computer key except delete so I try, not saying I always succeed, to read and check before I hit the enter key. If I ruffle a few feather's to make point nah not so much. I think there is a time and a place for empathy and tact then sometimes the most humane thing IS in your face, over the top, shake someone up, or shut them up, by embarrassing the fire out of them. It is sometimes a sting now or a bullet later. You can get away with a lot of "stuff" on line and live to play another day but you take it out in the real world and it might not be so funny. However I firmly believe every one gets hurt in a fight and petty stuff has too high a price to let things get out of hand. I have just walked away from the computer rather than let it get to that level. Some threads I don't even like to get in because I know people are looking for a fight. When a person feels angry and impotent it is really better to stay off the computer because I have never seen anyone win against the delete/off key. Biggest reason I do not drink is there is NO ONE big enough or bad enough I won't take on and that is dangerous. On line or off. Always kind of sad when I see people I like get messed up and let the bottle do the talking. It is usually pretty obvious. I tend to try to avoid being on line on "bottle" hours. Never fails someone says something "pickled". I don't like bullies and don't want to be one. Believe me if I want to tear someone a new one I can do it. Could melt this server down with profanity and rage at times so I filter a lot. But have I felt bad that I took someone down that sorely needed it Nope not one second in that case. Last thought anyone who says they have never said something on line is not really saying much. They haven't open themselves up or let the real feelings out because human feelings are not always pretty. |
