I was just listening to the Last concert given by Elvis on television and I think I know why he faked his death or killed himself with an over dose. He was way off key, singing famous tear jerking songs made famous by guys like Sinatra and others.
At first I thought I was listening to a bad Elvis impersonator, but when I looked, no, it's Elvis. Yep, it's time to quit when your impersonators can sing better than you. Hey, he was the greatest when he was young but he not only let his waistline go, he let his voice go too. So sad. He lost his wiggle too. Damn. He had such a cute butt. |

People are sentimental. That's why they still go and watch has-beens like Mick Jagger and Billy Idol.

Eric Burden of the Animals once claimed "I always Knew how much drugs to do,I just did 1/3 of what Jimmy was doing". |

Aside from his awesome looks, the man could move and he could sing...He started a new kind of pop music genre by combining styles like gospel and hillbilly rock and roll...He crossed over racial barriers and blurred the lines in rhythm and blues...Elvis was an amazing artist who was way ahead of his time...I was 7 years old and my sister was 9 when he made his first TV appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show...My daddy sent us to bed...He said it was too suggestive for us to watch...My sister cried herself to sleep that night...

I love Elvis and his music for sure.I think his voice never faded but at the end you could tell the drugs and lifestyle was clearly catching up to him.So sad to bad he just couldn't step back and just sing gospel and ride off into the sunset but rarely do drugs let one do this.
