i don't think they get hints kerry. you know how conservatives are, they like their men but prefer to remain in the closet about it. i think they just want to see if the carpet matches the drapes.

Im seeing all these posts and all these bad things that are happening! And not one shows me anything everybody already knows!
But what worries me is not one of you seems to do anything
about all this!!!Why even debate this?We know whats up!
Why not instead, lets talk about what we can do!Not whats already been done!
I find no solutions in all your procrastinations!!
(((Put up or shut up!)Or how about(Sh!t or get off the pot!)
We have to stop talking about this stupid crap and do something!
Get your thumbs outta your ass and say or do something
constructive instead of stroking one another!!!
And please no smart ass comments. You all know its time
for this so lets maybe think together not alone!
Thats what got us here in the first place!!!

But this thread is another chance to realize that these are just exagerrated "party lines" and thoughtful people have the ability to examine issues and decide for themselves on each issue. Just because you may identify yourself as more of a liberal than a conservative does not mean that you can't agree with some supposedly "conservative" positions.

Thinking and talking about the issues individually seems a lot more productive (to me) than a bunch of name calling... plus it's more fun...

But then I have the choice to read some other thread... and you all have the choice to continue name calling... whatever amuses you most... (lol because I'm primarily a "liberal" I believe in free speech).

"I thought she was being nice, giving Kerry a compliment for his politics while also showing her preference for a different hair style. Get a grip Kerry, Lots of people have different tastes. Personally I think that hair style went out about a hundred years ago but what do I know. "

Well YOU didn't get the obnoxious, unsolicited emails, so before you run your act up to ten on the STUPID meter defending someone who persists at being insulting, you might want to consider that _she_ contacted me. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's tacky to parade one's preferences about in manner that infers that the person you've chose to focus upon doesn't fit those preferences. Especially when you haven't been asked and when you've been told before it's an act that's wearing thin with repetition.

Since you don't know the whole story, you might want to consider quitting while you're ahead, pard. You don't have a dog in this hunt, so be a good ole boy and butt out.

it's definitely more productive to discuss the topics but everyone in here seems to be joking.

Point taken. I took exception mainly because I thought it didn't belong here.

Nobody ever called me a good ol' boy. I'm much to contentious for that.

I still think it doesn't belong here.

I don't mind the joking King, and this time no one seems to be getting too upset... I'm just a little bored with the same old same old "liberals are this" and "conservatives are that" it's not really funny to me anymore because I've heard them all before...yawn

but obviously if I don't like the topic I don't have to participate so I have only myself to blame...

Anoasis, I took some of the liberal list item by item, not because it was fun, but because I considered all the items on the list to be at least a little disingenuous. I took that side to task because of the tone, which was much less humorous than the original post. Maybe I should have taken the other side item by item. Perhaps someone here will read my response and take the original post to task item by item. That would be healthy discourse in my opinion. I'm actually wondering if anyone actually read the stuff I spend 15 minutes typing.

Great!!!Free speech!!!
Its ok!!you sit there and let all your(Freedom)be taken away.
Liberalism refers to a broad array of related ideas and theories of government that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal.[1] Liberalism has its roots in the Western Age of Enlightenment.
Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Different forms of liberalism may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy, and a transparent system of government.[2] All liberals – as well as some adherents of other political ideologies – support the form of government known as liberal democracy, with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law.

Conservatism is a term used to describe political philosophies that favor tradition and gradual change, where tradition refers to religious, cultural, or nationally defined beliefs and customs. The term is derived from the Latin, conservāre, to conserve; "to keep, guard, observe". Since different cultures have different established values, conservatives in different cultures have different goals. There is no perpetually 'ideal' society in conservative thought. Some conservatives seek to preserve the status quo or to reform society slowly, while others seek to return to the values of an earlier time, the status quo ante.
So that somes it up!!!
Happy?
Now since we cleared that up what are you gonna do?
Sit there and debate?Turn your head and not see the truth
around you?
What you have to do is get mad!!!get real mad!!!
Because our country is slowly circling the drain damit!!!

Philosopher-

You're right, I think the whole "hair length" side issue threw me off...

Re: "Anoasis, I took some of the liberal list item by item, not because it was fun, but because I considered all the items on the list to be at least a little disingenuous. I think ALL the items in all the LISTS are not only disingenius, but harmful. These lists and labels destroy thought, they divide people and not for real difference but for artificially created divides.

I hate to constantly repeat myself (because it's boring) but people should not be lumped or allow themselves to be lumped. I don't make a decision on an issue and then look for a list to tell me how I should feel about other issues... that's idiotic in my opinion.

I know the lists are supposed to be funny- but these lists are taken seriously by too many people. I just want people to think for themselves- the more lumping and listing that occurs the less that seems to happen. People get sidetracked by "us" vs. "them" mentalities and end up espousing issues that they have so obviously never *really* examined on a deeply personal level...

And once a list has been chosen it seems that there is no room to reexamine the issues in light of new information or even new life experiences that might change ones perspective... why not? Because once "lumped" into their party and given their "list" of how they should feel, think and argue the average sheep seems to put cement on their brain and call it good...
