Some events, some places of businesses, or private clubs, even some court or government functions certain clothes are required. A man may be required to wear a tie and jacket even three piece suit or tuxedo , a woman a dress or shoes instead of Flip-flops (beach) shoes, and a hat. In some situations modesty is required. Or a minimum of makeup or appearance even physical ability. Some places will require that coats, hats, pack packs, purses, or briefcases be screened or checked, or have their car parked. Or like on a golf course/country club that you use their caddy or carts.(Usually at the person's expense or at least a substantial tip.

Popular culture has changed most of those standards from being mandatory but there is still social pressure or just being denied admission on the guise of capacity crowd.

While on line dating allows people of diverse cultures or economic standings to meet "dress codes" or dressing customs do seem to sometimes create interesting situations.
