lol...

forcing health care on people...to me...goes even further than forcing, say, helmets or seat belts (which i AM for). it's invasive...

and what if you don't like their suggestions? i've often chosen not to receive medical treatments because my research showed them to be unreliable or unsafe. and i've seen several times where experts differ in their opinions. i have special needs kids...you bet your ASS i've seen "experts" disagree. so what happens then?

fanta, i read that speech...there's a whole lot of words with not much substance. all the meat is in the middle, surrounded by reeeally thick bread.

Everything in that speech is back up with a detailed plan to achieve it!
Thats more than words!!drinker

I believe you are stretching the health care statements LULU. He is refering to not waiting 20 yeas to go to the doctor after you've developed health problems!

Thats just common sense. Hes not suggesting you recieve treatment you dont want, just check ups!

"He noted, for example, that women would be required to have regular mammograms in an effort to find and treat "the first trace of problem." Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, announced earlier this year that her breast cancer had returned and spread.

Edwards said his mandatory health care plan would cover preventive, chronic and long-term health care. The plan would include mental health care as well as dental and vision coverage for all Americans.

"The whole idea is a continuum of care, basically from birth to death," he said."

um...mandatory mammograms, mandatory preventive, chronic, and long-term health care. to me, that means mandatory TREATMENT, as well.

Isn't Edwards a doctor? Humm a doctor pushing a mandatory health care plan, am I the only one who sees a conflict of interest?

well mandatory health care is wrong

it should be provide available health care

no medical procedure should be mandatory

after all they only practice medicine

and if they are practicing then it should not be mandatory

bigsmile

if i have cancer, i would like to have the choice on whether or not to treat it.

having a mammogram...is very personal and private. and regardless of the results, i'd probably not treat, anyhow.
