My cousin did something like that to a neighbor hood cat, I won't go into details cause its more horrible than the events in the topic. But he got caught and got 5 years. And since my parents had 6 cats at the time, the guy was never allowed near the house and my step dad made sure of it...with his shot gun.
Anyway, if I knew this kid, I'd tell him to watch his back
