Today was supposed to be the first of a 3 day event culminating in my 34th birthday celebrations. It didn't go as expected, but I made the most of it. I'm bitter because the so-called friends I invited showed upo somewhere else and not where I wanted to go, and I waited 2 hours or more to see them walk through the door...and no one did.
This has only galvanized me to be more of as flame rather than a moth for everyone else's flame. I used to be that, and now Im pretty much done with trying to follow along. Considering it an exercise in humility and a sign that I'm changing, growing and that sometimes there are some people in life who just aren't worth any of the internal drama. especially in this time of life that should be a celebratory occasion. The next two days will determine who my real friends are in life and who's gotta go. And I will erase those who have to go with no amount of remorse whatsoever, as I tried to add to their life as much as I could and they couldn't or didn't want to give back when it was time to. I can do better, and WILL do better. |

My birthday is this week end to. Hey no worries sometimes you can't count on others or they have made other plans in advance. Just do something you like for yourself. I know I will. Happy bday life is good!

Cut the fairweather friends out and surround yourself with people that are reliable and trustworthy. The friends I have these days are tried and tested. We help each other out and stick together through thick and thin. You had a party and they knew that, but went elsewhere? Thats not what real friends do. Think its time to cut the wheat from the chaff my friend.

I agree with this ^^^ I also thought I had a friend-a true friend,but,she never came for my father's burrial and never came for the last funeral rites-which is a celebration of life! That really made me re-evaluate!! |

I truly understand what your saying and how you feel so yes I agree make the best decision for yourself. Your true friends will show up this weekend, or call to explain,and those who don't mark them off your list and keep it moving.

JRONIN I know what it feels like when you see others as friends yet they forget or are too busy to remember you on your special day. What I have come to realize is that almost everyone nowadays are revolving around self and their immediate world around them, without considering their lack of concern causes to others. All I can say is that we must be satisfied within ourselves and treat ourselves with dignity and love, even if the rest of the world fails to do that. So do something extra special for yourself on your special day and really, really enjoy it! From me to you HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May it be the best!

Ugh. Sorry. That must really suck, but then again, you're better off without them if they don't stick to a promise. I stopped worrying about which of my friends seemed more genuine, because some are just real user's/freeloaders, and if I detect any hint of getting used, I will cut off all contact with them, because I'm not here to serve others. I can be nice to people, but in no way does that mean I'll just take it if they use me. I WILL NOT carry on connecting with them. Sometimes you're bestest friend is yourself. We don't need others to feel secure, or justify that we are alive, if you get my meaning. Friends can be a good thing, but just be cautious when making them

At least you are learning, changing, and growing. Many people have associates which are not true friends. A true friend is hard to come by. When you do make one, you make one for life.

 birthday went better than expected and i still had the best time ever! Made a few new friends. Life is good! Now if I can just save enough money over the next few months I can move out of where I am and into a new apartment, and then throw a proper birthday there someday!
