Why blame the coach always for the incompetence of the players?

It is the players fault in some cases but the coach takes responsibility of their actions there's no excuses regardless of situations harsh but thats how it works

It's the coach's job to get the most out of his players, to make sure they're playing up to their potential. It's his job to change things if there are problems, therefore if the team fails, then he's held responsible. The players have to play, but the coach ultimately decides WHO plays and who goes. That's my best analysis.

not bad!
I like the quote from the late Pat Burns..I think it was after being fired from the Montreal Canadians or Toronto maple leave's..as follows

"You can only trade foot soldiers for so long, sooner or later
the general has to go"
It was thought to be a bad year in Montreal if they didn't win the Stanley Cup (Once a time )

They can't fire the players so they fire the coach.

It's unfair. Players have much more power now than before. It must be very hard managing all these overhyped, overpaid prima-donnas. I think being a manager these days is harder than it was say twenty years ago. Because they have less control.

Absolutely agree. Wouldn't want their job ever! There are still some players that play for the love of the game, regardless what game we're talking about, and I think the managers do it for them. They still have to put up with a lot of crap from the ones that are in it for the money only though, especially considering the constant barage of media coverage now following the antics of these morons that give athletes a bad name. Used to be what happened in the clubhouse was between manager and team. Those days are gone. frustrated

I don't think the coach should get the blame
