Topic: WHY? | |

Why do people type like they are texting? Do they not understand how to write a full sentence? When they use one letter and expect you to know what they mean..this just drives me flipping crazy!!
SO WHY DO YOU DO THIS? THE COLLEGE PROFESSOR'S SAY THAT EVERY YEAR THE STUDENTS GET WORSE ON THEIR ENGLISH...YOU NEED TO BREAK IT NOW AND LEARN HOW TO TYPE A FULL SENTENCE AND NOT ABBREVIATE. |

wut u tlkn bout? Dis how i be spkin 2 mu peeps!
Sadly, texting is destroying the way some people write, as in on paper not just online. I see it all the time where I work looking at applications and resumes. Mix it with how short the attention spans are getting, and it is a recipe for a new age illiteracy. |

I look at it as a lack of common respect and a low education level.
I don't mind the (brb) be right back stuff but when it gets to the point every other word is abbreviated then I will just stop and move on to someone else. |

Unfortunately, the education system as a whole is breaking down. Way too many kids are diagnosed as having ADHD or Autism, and are put on individualized education plans. Before anyone gets on me about how ADHD and Autism are real, let me clarify that there are cases where it is necessary, but, having worked in the special education department of various schools, I have seen first hand that it is often a behavior issue as opposed to an actual learning capacity.

If you dont understand it just ask them nicely if they can type the full words as you dont understand text speak

I understand it all fine, but there's a time and place to abbreviate things, and in formal documents or college papers (or speeches) is definitely not the place.
