I doubt my senior co-worker has serious inferiority complex.

I doubt so because,

1.He repeatedly says to me : "Well,I'm not your boss." ( Even if I haven't asked),"Well,technically I'm too weak" etc.etc.

2.He try delivering lengthy speech(?) if I ask him some basic question,to which mere yes/no answer would be enough. Most part of what he says is usually irrelevant, over exaggerated, illogical & unnecessary.

3.Recently when I put up my innovative idea to upper management,he simply ignored it,but when the management asked him to explore that idea,he asked me why I put up that idea directly to management & not discussed with him??

After this incident,he requested management to make my reporting to him & got it done too!!...and this all happened without my knowledge.

4.Then once he asked me to keep him intimating if I'm out of station even during weekly offs....!!!

In short he repeatedly keep saying that he is not my boss & repeatedly tries to master me.....

It is just 4 months back,I joined new company where I'm daily dealing with this fellow.

on many incidences I'm getting irritated due to his behavior. He tries to exhibit his politeness, friendliness by repeatedly saying so but his actions are intentionally devaluing me....

...currently,I'm busy finding out the right solution for this.

....the change in my reporting w/o my knowledge is really shocking for me & I'm asking management the reason for this change...

...any views?

To avoid listening his lengthy speeches,I've completely stopped asking any question to him and this was one of the reason why I didn't discussed that idea with him....I put that idea directly to management & again....he is there like that....IN FRONT OF ME...!!!

I seriously believe this person is feeling very insecure due to my presence....and is trying different tactics to boss me...

Yeah,It's a real tough one.

How easy it would be if I could directly tell him that he need to have a psychiatric treatment for his own well being....!!

He is not my boss....that is what my job assignment contract says, and that is what he too repeatedly says....without my asking.

I don't know exactly why are you saying that it sounds good that he doesn't misbehave with me.....are you willing to say that I deserve his misbehavior?

As far as pissing off is concerned...well he himself asked me plenty of times that why I'm always keeping quiet? Why am I not mixing up with him? Why am I always busy with work??
......If he is getting pissed off due to my silence & minding my own business....then god help him & me too.

Before writing about this matter over here & after that too,I've discussed with few colleagues of HIM & mine.Everyone said he is very negative person & always takes over protective mode, gets frightened with the problems & tries to frighten others too.

Regarding ego....well,that is how people takes it usually if one tries to show them their weakness or area for improvement....I'm sure he too would take it that way only (would consider me egoistic)...so I wouldn't ever tell him that he needs a psychiatric treatment...

BTW....one of his & mine subordinate told me once that even though he loses his temper & quarrels with people frequently, after calming down ,he apologizes & asks to the person he quarreled with, whether he need any improvement in the way he talked...!!

Indifference.....hum...but not just indifference.

I'm good at ignoring the differences in thinking, knowledge & beliefs but why the hell is he expecting me to act and say the things as he thinks....? & how can any one do that or even expect that??

In my opinion he is a very immature & insecure person.

His aggressiveness is arising out of his infiriority complex & insecurity feelings.

He repeatedly says that he is technically incompetent & that's why he insisted to the management to have me ( New Senior Manager) at the same post as of his.

Most probably he thinks that he is managerial strong and that's why he is technically weak
or
technical weakness means managerial strength....huh!

WTF...Two senior managers in a three engineers team ?????

I never did like this in my career.

WTF...He don't get even shy to tell me that he demanded for One asst. manager & one more engineer too,but cancelled the demand on his own after my joining.....
