they don't come close to killing as many people as guns

Knives are used to kill people too, not just cut as you say.
granted, there may be a few more killings by gun but that argument can be made that guns shouldn't be regulated because they kill less then an A-bomb:wink:

I know, it's a pretty shallow exampleglasses but Knives do kill thousands a year...probably the # one cause of deaths in prison and typical street crimes(non drug related).

knives are up close and personal , fighting chance

they are often used to cut our food as well

I don't know anyone needing gun to eat their food....lol
and I know guns are great for cowards who don't know how to fight up close and personal and those who want maximum injury with little effort or risk

using a knife has risks of cutting oneself or being hurt oneself because of the close proximity

probably why so many fewer people use a knife to commit a murder,,except passion of the moment cases where its handy, or where there is a need not to make noise,,,,,

Actually, you are wrong! Knives, clubs and fists kill almost as many people as guns every year!

Alcohol, cars and Drs (Perscription drugs included) are the top 3

And while guns may be a weapon of choice, it is people who kill people, not the tool they use!

I think first you should distinguish between hand guns and guns in general. There are still many, specially in Alaska and other rural states that do use guns for most of their food...at least meat source.
As for knives, I think they are just as threatening.
And going to your argument, you are probably right about a fighting chance, but I think that chance is "just to survive" a knife attack.

I'm not sure if there are stats( I know you posted stats on Murder rates between guns and knives)but I'll bet there are a lot more knife attacks then gun shootings. It's just that knife victims, although terrorized and maimed may have higher survival rate.

I doubt it, seems this is gang related. Although it may be against common sense, it seems repeat offenders don't spend as much time as a first time offender when it comes to capital crimes.what
