Well please go convince the US government that they don't need gun control then, and maybe they would stop pushing that agenda with the frenzy they are pushing it.

If they don't want to have all the lethal guns, why are they stocking up on ammunition like there is a shortage of it?

"Jeanne's questionable hysteria?" Oh I guess genocide and extermination is a boring concept to you.

Yes, if there is a battle, they will probably win or do a lot of damage, if the military blindly follows orders, -- but if no one fights back for lack of having any weapons themselves it could just be another extermination.

I repost the following because this happened RECENTLY! But of course NO ONE believes this could happen HERE, even after America exterminated Native Americans, and Canada exterminated Native Canadians.

5. Closer to home, Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayans, unable to defend themselves against their ruthless dictatorship, were arrested and exterminated.
6. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves from their dictatorial government, were arrested and exterminated.

7. Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million of the “educated” people, unable to defend themselves against their fascist government, were arrested and exterminated.

Canadian laws require registration of all people who own guns and registration of all guns. Applicants for gun permits are screened through a background check and a gun safety course where an instructor must sign off that the applicant successfully took the course. Finally, a mandatory 28-day waiting period is imposed on first-time applicants.

Okay... sounds innocent right? Sounds reasonable right? Of course it does. But registration is basically a list of gun owners. When the time comes for a tyrannical government to confiscate guns, they have a list.

(But criminals can steal the guns they need.)

In addition, Canada has special laws against the use of non-hunting firearms. Individuals are granted permission to use such arms only when the individual has genuine needs for restricted firearms or prohibited handguns that include a need to protect the life of that individual or of other individuals where

But the right to bear arms is not about hunting. It is about the ability to defend the country if and when a government turns on its own people and turns into Tyranny. And don't say that it will never happen here, it ALWAYS HAPPENS. Look at history.

Also, saying that you are a member of the NRA and of the NFA (National Firearms Association) is not a free pass to support lame gun control ideas like these.

The right to bear arms is not about keeping guns from criminals, or about hunting.

It is about the freedom to bear arms without the government regulating, and controlling or confiscating them.

I did state SOME of the Canadian laws. I see that you either did not bother referring to the chart in the article or choose to ignore it because it does not fit your view.

The chart specifically states that all those Mass Killings were done with legally obtained weapons. Weapons which the killers would Not have had such easy access to if SOME of the restrictions were put in place.

As far as the rest of it goes.... I joined NRA / NFA because I believe in the right to have firearms for defense and not just hunting.

Anyway time for some shuteye.

I'm glad you are "amused"

To even look at the material I had to cut an paste the link because https links don't work in here.

But after reading the first two I didn't really have to read any more. That told me everything I want to know and what the agenda is.

Do you really want me to go over each and every one of them and tell you why they are all lame and how they all are designed to erode the freedom to bear arms?

If I did, would it change your mind?

Well of cours not. That would be stupid. People would not go along with all this gun control legislation if politicians openly advocated disarming Americans.

If you read the O.P. you will discover that gun control and registration is only the first step to gun confiscation.

But no one seems to believe that is a possibility. It can never ever happen here... right?

I wonder how many other people (who were exterminated) thought the same thing.

*************

After the guns are confiscated, then a Tyrannical government can do what it wants and have its way with the people.. with no RESISTANCE AT ALL. How OR WHY WOULD they resist when 1.) 70% Of the population is dependent on government money and 2.)and nobody has any guns.

What happens then? The people turn into a bunch of sheeple who willingly give up their freedoms inch by inch until there is none left.

Inflammatory rhetoric? For a person who claims to have done a thesis on genocide you don't seem too informed.

"can't have a reasonable convo with the unreasonable???"

What about what I have said seems unreasonable to you? Or do you just make these kinds of unreasonable remarks when you are unable to actually present your argument or case?

What about anything I have said is "inflammatory rhetoric?" What about anything I have posted about genocide is not true? Please provide evidence and explanation for your remarks.

Hi John!waving we're not paranoid, just frustrated...Our first gun control law was written in the state of Georgia 176 years ago! Good point, except for the fact that the government wouldn't come in guns a blazin like you mentioned.

It's called incrementalism. Scenario most folks are talking about would involve Martial Law type situations where civilians mount a defense. At first citizens would be outgunned until family members of soldiers were involved. Then most of the U.S. Military would turn on the powers that be.

Random fact... In general military leadership actually looks down on our special forces (in all branches). This (i would assume) is because they are the first ones to question their orders. (Quite commonly disobeying them if they go against morals or ideals.) You don't hear that very often, but I've seen it.

Point is, when a real conflict breaks out, most of those that make us as powerful as we are, will disband and join the people, starting with our most highly trained operatives. The glock's, Ak's, and AR's only give the citizens the initial ground.

I know i may be splitting hairs... But your use of the word "All" is incorrect.

I seem to remember at least one of your list involving illegally obtained weapons.

Either way i feel it necessary to add; The ends do not always justify the means. We have been founded on principles that freedom and independence, in general, out weighs personal safety. But i suppose that's just us. These were safeguards against leaders gaining too much power.

And crime in the U.S., as a whole, has been seemingly unchanged by any gun control measures already passed. This includes Clinton's "assault weapon" ban.

With disregard to mass shootings, gun-related violence is MUCH more connected to economics than laws...

I with respect to your studies, perhaps you have discovered that many of those responsible for making laws pertaining to "gun control" were, in fact, the same ones committing the crimes. Therefore gun control wouldn't have prevented these from occurring as the law makers weren't held to the same laws.

Furthermore I would like to point out, that the laws these "gun nuts' are against, are blanket ones like magazine capacities, and outlawing firearms based on looks (hidden behind the "assault weapons" bans. Incrementalism is alive and well, and it seems that there is a bigger push to make new rules instead of enforcing those already in place.

Being a reasonable person Leigh, tell me you're not opposed to more security chqs for new gun owners? Tell me you're not opposed to much much stiffer penalties for the thugs walking around town with unlicensed/stolen weapons? Tell me you're not opposed to licensed owners and their duty to keep their weapons locked securely at all times? Keeping an 8mm in your car Glove box is a lil outdated yes?

It is, however, the natural course of any entity to seek expansion, power, and control (this is seen as "progression". Innocent enough until it crosses a line. This line has been crossed many times, by many countries throughout history. There is no reason to think we are an exception, but plenty of reasons to fear that we are not. The second amendment is a tool to help keep these forces at bay.

Heck, if we can't enforce our current laws why bother making new ones? Unless we are relying on an "honor" system... Hmm...

Gun control was established in the 30's In Canada

No exterminations yet:thumbsup: stop being so paranoid ffs laugh

Hi John!waving we're not paranoid, just frustrated...Our first gun control law was written in the state of Georgia 176 years ago! (in 1837)…Federal gun control laws began cropping up almost 100 years ago in the 1920' and 30's ….Nearly all of the "mountain" of existing federal gun control laws were written in response to shocking crimes involving guns…NEARLY EVERY ONE…Every time a controversial shooting occurs, certain political groups clamor for more laws…What they overlook is the fact that existing laws are not being enforced…If they want better gun control, how about starting with demands to do what ever is necessary to enforce the laws already on the books…The last we need right now is more legislation!….Vice President Biden is known for his making stupid remarks, but one of the stupidest things I ever heard him say when speaking in favor of more gun control was this…."We don't have time to enforce our gun control laws"…And we wonder whyslaphead ……………………

Leigh flowerforyou

Can you give one example of a Federal law that isn't enforced? I'm asking out of ignorance not being a smart azz.

Remember smoking was permitted on flights not so long ago... seems pretty crazy to us today laugh

Strong enforcement of existing laws has not been a priority of our current administration…After the Newtown shootings it got better, but there is much room for improvement…One thing congress has failed to do is provide necessary funding for NICS, especially in the area of mental health records and getting that info into the system…Polls show that over 90% of gun owners support addressing these types of gaps…This is a prime example that resonates with many Americans John, think Sandy Hook…Prosecution of people who falsify background check info is also not strongly enforced by current administration…In 2009, the FBI reported 71,000 instances of people lying on their background checks, but only 77 cases were prosecuted…not even 1%…There is more John, but you do the leg work if you really want to know…Just the fact that you can speak so strongly in favor of US adding more and better gun control laws and in the next breath ask an American "woman" to explain how our current laws are not being enforced tells me you might want to do more research before voicing such strong opinions about how the US operates and what we need to do to improve our great country....

As to the remainder of you questions, being the reasonable person that I am, I favor stronger and more precise enforcement of current laws BEFORE deciding what, if anything, needs to change...

They haven't done much in the way of taking guns away from gang-bangers.

Seems that would be a priority.

Oops! I forgot! Libs are at the helm! Their priorities are 180 out of those of sane folks.

Easier and safer to snatch, love that word , guns from citizens.
