Now, Mexico has a great Socialist Healthcare system. Only drawback, ya' have to work to get it. That would suck for the ones who want it all fer free.

They do have some great Free clinics sponsored by the Gov. If you can afford to pay, they won't turn it down. They have what's called, and I am aware, a percentage of US Citizens don't grasp the concept, HONOR SYSTEM.

The public hospitals will treat you on credit if, you can prove your residence. Ferigners pays cash. Not unreasonable. I had a sever asthma attack and got treated for 400 pesos.

The residents pay what they can up front and by their HONOR, they pay a little each month.

Well here we have "free" health care too. An American hospital can not by law turn anyone away from emergency care. In most cases even if it is not an emergency, the hospital will treat the patient even surgeries if necessary and bill them. The poor just never pay the bill and it is eventually paid by those that have insurance through rate hikes.

Single-payer system or a government health system is the worst way to go. None have worked to satisfaction in anywhere it has been used. Why do Canadians and people from other countries come here? Long lines and waiting list and unavailable prescription medicines. Not a good alternative.

You seem to assume that our current system works to satisfaction. It doesn't. Health care in the US is at least twice as expensive as in the next most expensive country. By satisfaction ratings, the US (25%) falls way behind England (43%) and Canada (57%).

How many people do you think come from Canada to the US for health care? According to a survey, it's less than 1%, and most of those were for elective procedures (plastic surgery).

According to the AARP, the wait times in Canada aren't that bad, and the waiting is only as bad as it is because they budget their healthcare that way. The wait times are not due to the single-payer system, proven by the fact that Medicare in the US is also a single-payer system and suffers no such wait times.

I don't know why you think prescription medicines are unavailable in Canada. In fact, thousands of Americans go to Canada to buy medicine, because it's cheaper, there. Try googling "prescription medicine in Canada" and you'll see places to go. You'll have to clarify that point.

The reason health is so expensive in the US is because of the thousands upon thousands of government regulations imposed on healthcare today by the Federal govt. and by the insurance companies.
AARP is a crock of chit. Canadians have to wait 6 to 9 months for a catscan. Some have to wait 2 to 3 years to get a primary care physician. It's so bad that many private clinics are opening there now. And the reason that many in the US go to Canada for meds is they are cheaper there due to higher price controls in the US. Canada pays much less for it's meds than pharmacies do here.
If Obamacare is so good why are the very ones forcing it down our throats don't want it and are exempt from it. Why is that?

Yes, If Obamacare is so good, why aren't there lines of people waiting to get into it either? Instead they are about to launch a 684 million dollar(tax-payer dollars)spin campaign to get young (and naive) people to sign up!what

Ask Congress why they are exempted from having it.

Ask Congress why they are exempted from having it.
No need to ask. Congress is already covered by employer-paid insurance. If you've already got insurance, you have no need to go to the health insurance exchange in your state.

Yes but all the workers for the congress, clerks, aides, interns etc have to now go to exchanges...but with this new "waiver" the tax-payers will subsidize the full cost of ObamaSCARE for congressional employees.

By the context of your response, you don't seem to know what "Obamacare" is. It's not a plan you join. Not a club. People don't "get into" Obamacare in that sense. The PPACA was just a law passed, and now there are new requirements that affect the way health insurance is done, and everybody's responsibility to financially cover their risk.

So, basically, you're a member of society, and you run the risk of running up hospital bills, in case of emergency. Before the PPACA, insurance companies could charge whatever they like, offer any array of health insurance plans, with high deductibles and low lifetime caps, while taking as much profit as they could get away with. Those insurance practices will soon be regulated. Also, people will then need to either find health insurance coverage or cover the risk through losing tax cuts. If some people cannot afford to buy health insurance, they can get subsidized insurance plans (before, the poor were already getting Medicaid). So, 'Obamacare' isn't something you'll wait in line for. There will be state-level operations to help consumers find a health insurance plan, but people will be able to buy their insurance online, and yes, possibly in person, where they may wait for the person in front of them to buy their policy. However, most people get their health insurance through their employers. Those people can skip the buy-a-new-policy step. Other people, like self-employed with pre-existing conditions that previously kept them from buying health insurance, will now be able to buy a policy without fear of being denied coverage or having their coverage later revoked.

I'm not sure why you guys miss this. You act so smart all the time, but you just suck up whatever any old yahoo on Fox News says, don't you.

We are aware that Obamacare is not an insurance policy. It is a penalty tax that those who don't have insurance will be forced to pay (except those on assistance and illegals). Insurance premiums have gone up 32% in Calif. recently due to Obamacare. This going to be a massive train wreck that will hurt our healthcare system as we now have it and we'll still have 30 million people not covered by health insurance. More government more taxing is not the answer to fix all problems.

I have health insurance with a $2000 deductible where I work. It's paid by my employer. Under Obamacare rules it is not considered acceptable and I can't claim it as insurance. So I will lose that.

The problem with liberals is, they have no common sense.noway

I don't know who told you insurance premiums went up in California. I live in California and my premiums went up last year about 2%. My employer covered it. Blue Shield, back in 2011, wanted to raise their premiums 59%, but it was due to the tough economy and healthier people dropping insurance, so the more expensive customers raised costs. PPACA directly addresses that problem. I guess you just saw cause and effect where there was none.

Your YouTube video had a nice point about one of the sources for medical costs, but John Stossel is more a conservative hack than reporter. Seriously, he interviewed a musician who wrote a crappy song about wanting health insurance. I could see how medical costs could go down if people were made to pay more of it, people get health insurance to avoid just that. Maybe Republicans should call for mandating higher deductibles. See how far that gets Teabaggers in 2014! LOL

In California 60,000 cancellations directly related to ObamaScare just went out. The president lied about "you can all keep your same plans and doctors". Also just a side note, John Stossel is by no means a conservative...he is a stanch Libertarian ...so you seem to very confused with "facts" .

You mean 60,000 AARP membership cancellations. Not that surprising, really. AARP isn't a Republican PAC. They're an advocacy group for elderly issues and insurance. It's no secret that they used to have tens of thousands of members who have become Teabaggers, so all they had to do was turn on Rush Limbaugh or any other hate radio jock and they get their marching orders to drop their membership.

Also, being conservative and Libertarian are not mutually exclusive. Stossel's still a conservative hack, even if he does self-identify as a Libertarian.
