Hi there , I'm newly seperated and finding the whole process traumatic, just looking for some friends to chat to and give me advice how to get over this intense loneliness which isn't helped by the fact I have a disabled kid so find it hard to get out and make friends. I have been married 21 years and I am devastated .

Hi there , I'm newly seperated and finding the whole process traumatic, just looking for some friends to chat to and give me advice how to get over this intense loneliness which isn't helped by the fact I have a disabled kid so find it hard to get out and make friends. I have been married 21 years and I am devastated . Sorry there is no easy answer, only time will heal the traumatic reactions you feel. Best advice is to concentrate on your disabled kid,he/she needs your love more then ever during this transition in your life. All other things will fall into place sooner or later. |

Please consider contacting DePelchin Center or call the mental health association for counselors who are available and on a sliding scale this is too important to leave to chance your action will save you and your family much future pain and sorrow if you act now!!

Hi there , I'm newly seperated and finding the whole process traumatic, just looking for some friends to chat to and give me advice how to get over this intense loneliness which isn't helped by the fact I have a disabled kid so find it hard to get out and make friends. I have been married 21 years and I am devastated . Im almost in the same boat(20years) except for the fact I wasn't devastated ..more like "FINALLY". But time will help heal the pain you're feeling. Your child needs you..and he/she will be your focus. Talk to others that are in the same position.. it helps... good luck to you! and welcome to the site |

I'm a single foster mom of a special needs kid. It is ok to put effort into your own happiness as well as your child's. I see life as a balance of work and fun. Too much or too little of either one produces a negative balance. Suggestions: Do something nice for yourself every day. Find a sitter. Get out of the house. Look in your community for fun things do. Make plans for future fun, like trips, concerts, movies. Don't be afraid to go out alone. If u are afraid take some self defense or pack some heat. If it makes you feel sad push past that feeling and go! Take an art class, or a dance class. Do something you have never done before like riding a Segway, tube sledding or scuba diving. Happiness comes from inside YOU..... not from others. Just do it. Fun is good.
