The man of straw stands in the rain
beyond the yellow brick road
he sold his soul to buy a heart
now he reeps the seeds he sewed
because he sold himself a daydream
thinking love was just ahead
made a wish upon a shooting star
and now the wicked witch is dead
he took the slippers from the evil one
and placed them on his fairy tale
when she knew he had no heart to give
there token ship began to sail
now he stands there by the road side
thinking what they could have been
if his chest possessed a heartbeat
she could have been his emerald queen
